Very much sounds like Germany circa 1930's.

My largest surprise in this whole thing is that Morgan Tsvangarai signed a power-sharing deal with the Zanu-PF in 2008. To me, that's an admittance of defeat and that, without international intervention, this situation is unlikely to be resolved any time soon.

Logically it makes sense to leave, but it's much easier to say when youre not the one who has to leave your homeland and place where you grew up.

To put it into perspective, many Albertan farmers (my Grandfather included) would have a very difficult time giving up the family farm even with fatal consequences looming for those that stay.

I do not concider this stupid at all. It's just hard to give up something that means that much to you.

I'd go totally militant. Build a bunker on the property and lay booby traps. Have enough ammo to go waco if they tried to take the land. Probably wouldnt survive but you'd take a few down with you.

I ain't saying that Zanu PF arn't anything but murdering thugs or that any white farmer deserves to die, none the less the history of oppression by the Smith government in the 60's and 70's in a pathetic attempt to keep power makes this definetly a bed that was made by the white population.

The dad's family had been there for 350 years. That is a HELL of a long time. It's very understandable that they wouldn't want to give up their land, the life that they've only known.

That said, I do believe that family lines are more important than family property. At what point does this family give up and realize life and safety is more important than material well-being? I do admire their courage, however. If that's the route they choose to go, I completely respect that. But again... that mythical line needs to be determined. When is it crossed?

Its the rule of none, if you are going to die, you take as many of them as you can with you, and that means automatic weapons. In a lawless shathole like Zimbabwe it cant be difficult to get firearms.

Nevertheless, the fact that turning over farms to people who don't know how to farm basically collapsed the food is just another reason why reparations are almost always a bad idea.
