We then found out it was rusting on the back wheel wells so we decided to get rid of it before we had any more issues. I will admit it was a fun car to drive, loved the layout of the dash with some good looking materials inside but it pissed me off that my civic had twice the kms and none of the issues.
My accord from 1991 is now over 550,000km and still runs like a top.

I don't get it on my vehicles, but believe it or not, it increases the trade-in value.

I wasn't debating that a mazdaspeed3 is a good purchase, just saying that there are mazda3's that list over 30k.

Any love for the Impreza WRX?

You'll pay more in fuel (premium + AWD) but you'll get more smiles per gallon then a Civic or Mazda 3

Go take a 1 series for a test drive and see if you still feel the same way. I do think the 135 is the way to go though.

I drove one and thought it felt cheap compared to the 335.

2010 GT model, with leather seats. Fully loaded. Has everything except the navigation package.

It was actually 29k including all the taxes and GST, so base price was probably around 27k in reality.

And it's worth every penny. I love it.

P.S. - to the guy who mentioned that everyone and their mother drives one, I've found that to not be true of the 2010 model at all. A lot of people drive the older generation models but there aren't that many 2010's out there...yet.

Just seems like a lot for what would be Mazda's lower end vehicle. For me when I hear Mazda 3 I think 'single mom' and you see them everywhere. I see what you mean by not all have the 2010 but all Mazda 3's look pretty similar. I guess I can't talk I spent around the same on a rice rocket as well but my would kick yours to the curb. And I have a bit of custom work/looks to it so even if someone did have the same car mine looks completely different when beside it.

My advice to the OP would be test drive some cars, then test drive some more. If you fall in love with it, buy it and if people don't like your choice they don't need to ride in the passenger seat.

LOL

In a weird way that actually makes sense. I can definatley believe that the same people stupid enough to purchase undercoating are also "trading" their vehicle's back in and losing thousands of dollars.

So yeah, I am sure the dealers do toss these schmo's an extra hundred or two for their "undercoated" vehicles, why wouldn't they?

Undercoating is a rip off but some people, like myself, trade in their vehicles out of laziness and not wanting the hassle of selling themselves. I would gladly take the hit on the trade in just for the reason of not having to deal with idiots in a private sale. I know I'm losing money but in my eyes I'm just paying them to sell my car. But I guess it would depend on the offer but if it is less than $2000 difference I'm taking that deal and calling it a day.

The previous generations were some really good looking cars, but the new Mazdas look like someone messed up a good design just because they had to do something. That stupid shat-eating grin is enough to make me not even consider them this time around.

Still look better than Toyota and Nissan's though I guess. I don't know what the hell happened to Nissan, but the majority of their cars look so ugly and plasticy these days, you'd think they merged with Chrysler.

I used to like Nissan for them being conservative with a little bit of personality. Obviously it's the higher end of the lineup, but one of my favorite looking cars from the 90s was a Nissan...I still love it.

The back of the new Mazda3 is nice. Front is a joke. Literally.

I guess you're paying for resale value with that car cause for $30k I'm getting a rear drive 2.0T Genesis Coupe, not a Mazda3. To each his own. If HOOT's talking about his 3.8 Genesis as a rice rocket he's just messin with ya. That thing hauls ass.

That's not going to last long... best selling cars in Canada:

1. Honda Civic
2. Toyota Corolla
3. Mazda 3

A Genesis Coupe looks like fun, but there's no way I'd pay $30K for one.

Never pay good money for a Hyundai, they are some of the only cars in the junk yard less than 10 years old.
