I do have to wonder just how much this can help the Red Skins this coming year. I still think they're lousy at the Wide Receiver position, they have two aging running backs in Larry Johnson and Clinton Portis. Their offensive line had a lot of issues, and there isn't much left to add to a team in terms of talent on the free agency market. His best receiving threat looks to be Fred Davis, as I don't know how much Chris Cooley has left. They don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the draft either. So although McNabb is still a very good QB, he's going to be taking the field without much help.

If Reid was as good a head coach as he is a GM, the Eagles would be a deadly team.
The only problem with the deal is the team they traded with. I am guessing the guy they are eying with this pic in their draft board doesnt fall to where the Radiers pick would have been.
A 2nd and 3rd for an expiring UFA is a good deal. Not great for a guy with McNabbs quality but.
Not a huge Peter King fan but an OK article in his Monday Morning QB article

Seattle trades guard Rob Simms to the Lions for a 5th round pick. Although it's not a major move it does help shore up the Lions at the guard position. On the surface it appears that the Lions will now take Ndomukung Suh with their top pick.
Pretty much sets the top 4 draft picks to be as follows unless the Skins decide to move down and acquire additional picks. Someone may be willing to move up to get the best tackle in the draft, but I don't know how far up a team wants to come to pay him what he'll need if drafted in that slot. Usually teams don't move up into the top 10 unless they're going after a QB.
Bradford St.L
Suh Det
McCoy TB
Okung Was

To further clarify how the NFL draft will shake out....Marc Bulger just released by the Rams.
http://twitter.com/ADAM_SCHEFTER
Will likely catch on elsewhere as a backup. Any Rams fans can start buying their Sam Bradford jersey's.

There used to be a lot of them during the greatest show on turf days. They've probably all become Saints, Patriots or Colts fans now, and were probably 49'er and Cowboy fans before that.
For the record I am not accusing any of those teams current fans of being Ram fans before because I know Oilfan 81 will jump in to defend his being a Colt fan if I don't post this part.

I knew a few guys who were fans from the L.A. Rams days.
And apparently Bulger's wife just gave birth to their first child yesterday and today is his 33rd birthday. I wonder how he is going to remember 2010?

LOL! Yeah, there are a few exceptions. I'm a Pats fan back to the early 80's when I started watching NFL (yeah, I have no idea. Steve Grogan is the reason I'm a fan. and he sucked.)
And I do know a guy who is a huge Rams fan and has been for years.

Yeah, my best friend is a Rams fan because his dad has been since the L.A. days. I still remember him taking Isaac Bruce in the second round of our fantasy draft three years ago.

Ouch! Classy timing. Someone in the Rams front office must've skipped business ethics class. This is why I try not to get too bent out of shape when a player looks to cash in or is seemingly looking out for himself more than the team contract-wise. Why should anyone be loyal to a franchise when it will cast him to the side in the coldest way possible when their time's finally up? It's very much a shrewd, calculating business, and you've gotta look out for your own best interests.

Football is a really, really brutal business. Often these cuts happen because a player has a roster bonus due on a certain date and they'll cut the guy 24-72 hours before that date. In this case though I think with the Skins getting McNabb it took the one potential trade partner out of play for the Rams so they decided to proceed with bringing in Bradford.
Realistically it's better to axe him now than wait until after the draft, as it does give Bulger a couple weeks to catch on with another organization pre draft.

Bulger is a decent quarterback when given time in the pocket.

Oh ya I hear ya there, much better for them to do it now in terms of what will work best for him. But on his birthday?? He's been with the organization for nearly a decade, how could they not know when his bday is?? Couldn't they just wait one more day? That's cold.

The Saints did the same thing to Mike Karney last year. He was getting married on Friday, they cut him on Thursday.

In other Saints news, Alex Brown visits New Orleans tomorrow. I hope he isn't allowed to leave town without a deal.
Edit: I'm also very happy Hargrove signed his tender. Good story, good player.

I'm still super bitter about the McNabb trade. I've been an Eagles fan for the last 20 years and am truly almost saying frak it over this. I'll eat my words if I have to but Kolb will be garbage. Top 10 pick next year for the Eagles, worst trade in franchise history.

Heard one of the talking heads, (Palantonio maybe?) on the radio yetserday and he made a point i found really interesting.
After all the deals the Eagles have made this off-season and with the players they have released, they are now the only team in the NFL that has only one player over the age of 30. They have lost all their veteran leadership for the most part and some really smart players.
Gonna be a long year in Philly.

Rumors that the Steelers will sign Bulger as insurance in case the whole Roethlisberger thing goes south on them and he gets a suspension from the league.

Not shocked or upset that McNabb was moved but a little surprised that it was to Washington. Thought he might be worth a little more but...
I am a big Eagles fan but I have never been a huge McNabb fan. He never really seemed to have "it" when it mattered.
Going with Kolb now allows the team to grow together. Why waste a year or two with McNabb throwing to young receivers and backs when you can get all of them, receivers backs, QB growing and maturing at once. Hopefully all hitting their primes at roughly the same time.
McNabb's time was limited anyways so get what you can for him. I have been a fan of this team long enough to know you don't get to attached to the name on the back of the jersey. If White can go they can all go.

Were you a fan prior to McNabb arriving? For all the criticism he gets about not having "it", he took the Eagles to the NFC Championship 5 times in 11 years and 1 Superbowl. Before he was an Eagle....it had been 20 years since the team went to a NFC Championship game.
From the business end I understand the trade, the Eagles do business that way, and in the NFL thats what you need to do to be a top team more years than not. But when fans say stuff like he didn't have "it", I don't know if thats entirely fair. I don't think his supporting cast has been particularly great for a lot of those years.

I sure was. The White reference should have given that away. My favs were Andre Waters, Seth Joyner, Eric Allen and of course White and Cunningham. Hell I even cheered for Bubby Brister. Buddy Ball still rules!
I think the offensive supporting cast has never been great and I always wanted that true #1 wide receiver for McNabb. But I will say that the defense has always been excellent and a very key element in getting the Eagles to where they were/are.
I am not taking anything away from McNabb I was actually one fan that wanted the Eagles to draft him. He just never seemed to come through when we needed him to, aside from the 4th and 24 play. Too many times I have seen McNabb throw the ball into the feet of a wide open receiver to kill a drive.
He has had his time and now it is somebody else's chance. I don't think the Eagles are in a position to win the Super Bowl this year or even next year, with or without McNabb. But they will be close in 2011 and even closer in 2012. This move allows them to stay competitive (knock on wood) while still getting better. McNabb would surely keep them competitive but is only going to decline in the next couple to three years.
