Did you ref the Saints/Phantoms game last night? If so I was the guy who Phaneufed that guy with 1 minute left, and then tried to act like it was his fault for skating into me.

If it helps, you tried to give me a penalty for tripping a guy who was 100 feet away from me. Eventually the real culprit came over and said "that was me."
What we didn't tell you is that it actually was me. I have telekinetic tripping abilities.

Oh yeah... sorry about that. I saw it, looked away for a second and all of sudden I drew a blank on the number. Nice guy that teammate of yours.
Have they said anything to you guys about moving down yet? I think you guys would have way more fun in E

Lol, that wasn't me. Sometimes it's so hard not laugh or high five a guy when something like that happens.

No worries! I would have gladly served the penalty, just to take one for the team, except I was very confused! These things happen. For the record, the other guy was the "bad" ref...
They haven't said anything yet. I hope they do send us down; the only thing is that we did lose one game in a shootout. Hopefully they don't use that as an excuse to keep us in D. It's very obvious that we don't belong there.
As for me, I have no investment in staying in D. I'd much rather have competitive games in a lower division.

What a gong show the other night when there was no other ref or score keeper. Didn't help that I was a grooms men in a wedding the night before either.
Also, does anyone play on either the Cow Punchers or Tools in Div B? If so, try fighting on the ice next time and not in the penalty box... makes my job much easier.

My first full season playing in net finished 18 - 8 - 2 - 2.......4.03 GAA. Had a ton of fun this season lots of good teams. Highlight was playing with Vernie in the All Star game at the Coral, and had a guy Rolston me on the Shootout competition and break my stick lol.

We finished 5th in E South, and will play COGENT'S Timbits of Doom on the 10th. Which team are you with? We must have played you guys. I'm on the "Screamin' Sheep."
EDIT: NM--I see that you're on Cougar Hunters II. Winner of our next game plays you guys, I think.

Yeah we went 1 - 1 against each other I was actually quite happy with the division this season it was more balanced than last winter season.

Well, you guys crushed us in the second game.
It's kind of "feast or famine" for our team. We either lose 7-1 or win 12-3.

Yeah I think it's comes down to your Goalie when you have a team like that if your goalie is having a good game you get the confidence to play really well and you can light it up but if your goalie is having a rough game you try too hard to not make a mistake. I know my team is like that.

So true. Confidence is really everything in this sport--it amazes me how important it is. Having started in D, losing every game--and then moved to E, where we were actually competitive, I can vouch for that.
I'm guessing COGENT can too, since his Timbits of Doom got a bit of a raw deal from the league.

The Timbits get a raw deal for the same reason that my Team does there's a player up in the AA divsion on the other Cougar Hunters team, and he has an association with the Timbits and Us, and the league and him don't get along. The Cougar Hunters in the AA division are leaving once this season is over so I hope that my team and the Timbits can get a bit more leeway with the league
I actually had a guy against the Ice Demons accuse me of using a ton of guys from the AA division team in the game again them, we do use them if we need them but I always try to find other guys first that are closer to our level and it's only 3 guys, 2 played for my team last winter so we use them if we need help, and the other guy is one of the founders of the Cougar Hunters so we use him to keep him happy but we make sure we tell them before every game to take it easy and not light it up because we don't want to be that team to uses ringers to run up the scores.
The game against your team Iowa we had 3 subs (none from the AA team) and they combined for 3 assists and 2 pim's so I'm not sure if your team was talking about us using them but we're just an odd team in times we can play really well and other times we just can't get the puck out of the zone

If you're in E you really shouldn't be using guys from AA, that seems a bit unfair IMO

Normally I would agree but as Subs and on an extremely limited basis and when they are told not to score, just play D I don't see a problem but that's just me.
There's a guy who plays in both the B and E and has 74 points in 20 games in the E division and 97 points in 26 Games in the B that I have a problem with because he's clearly too good for both divisions, but since I'm using the guys I'm using I haven't said a word about it to the league. I know one of the league's (not sure which) judges your teams initial placement on your best players and I'd be fine with that.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie--I'd definitely heard that rumour too. It may have originated with Ice Demons, but some of our guys were grumbling about it too.
I think the truth is that we just didn't play well against you guys. We were down 4-0 before we even woke up and started playing. But it can sometimes be easier to just say "bunch of ringers" and then you don't have to deal with how crappy you were. I was definitely guilty of that in the day or so after the game--it wasn't until a week later when we were much better in the next one that I started pondering how we could have played better.
I think part of it is that losing is really frustrating, and the feeling that you're just outclassed--playing against guys who are way, way better than you are--isn't a good feeling. We have an odd mix--some really good players and some really weak skaters as well--so it can sometimes happen that in a particular game we just don't get good matchups.
I'll be sure and let the team know what you said about that, though. It does help to clear things up, for me at least. I think it will clear the air a little bit, and it might even help us (if we do play you on the 17th) to re-focus a little.
I think it's a fine balance, because nobody wants teams to be forfeiting games, and when you're in "E" any random sub you scare up from the street could seem like a ringer. We had one guy sub with us for a game against Ice Demons, and we actually didn't ask him back for that very reason--he scored like 4 goals and dominated all over the ice, and the game just wasn't quite as good as it might have been as a result. I'm pretty confident we could beat Ice Demons without him, and winning 14-4 just isn't all that fun.
But it's tough because our starting roster of 16 has dwindled to about 11 (I don't get how people pay 600 dollars to play hockey and then quit halfway through, but whatever) so we pretty much chronically need subs.

lol tell me about it, we beat the Iceholes 4 - 1 in January then turned around 3 weeks ago and got beat 14 - 6. I think with subs it can be like that, like I said the AA guys I tell them not to light it up because while we like having good players play, it's no fun at all to win a game where they did all the work. I think with the exception of the Rebels (who will get better) and of the teams in our division could go all the way. My team was in 4th last place 2.5 months into the season and finished 4th, it just takes getting hot at the right time.

nope none we had 1 guy fall 1 short at 9 games, and I guess we had 1 guy who started as a sub but we had a guy drop off and he became a regular on the team he got his eligibility but I'm not sure if he could be called a sub or a regular lol

Yeah, we're in the same boat, pretty much. Only 2 of our usual subs are playoff eligible. We'll be rolling with 11 or 12 skaters in all likelihood.

You hear this a lot from teams, but our team had an issue with it. The problem is, those guys may not light up your team, but they will often make sure their team wins. By that I mean they will judge how the game is going, and always score just enough to get their team the win.
So as a team that gets beat by them, we can't point to the boxscore and say "Look, he was a ringer and won his team the game", because what he did was go "Okay, 3-3 with 2 minutes left, I'll just skate through their whole team, put the puck in the net with ease, and there we go, we win".
So as an opposing player it's really frustrating, because although the game has the feel of a close game with similar skilled players, it's really not, because that one guy will score when he wants to, so in essence, that team is going to win the game, it's just the guy that could have scored 7 goals, instead scored two goals, but just waited for the right times.
