Just about to say... wow. She was drop dead gorgeous. The other chick meh...

I'm not what it is, I really like the story line but it wasn't as 'griping' as BOB. I think it might have to do with the acting/characters. They don't seem nearly as awesome as BOB but when I read up on them, they're pretty damn awesome too.

I honestly think it will just take time. After the series is done, and we've all watched it a couple times, I would be willing to bet we're gonna like these guys just as much as the BoB guys.

It's really hard for me to think back to when BoB was on and how I felt after the first few episodes. I can't remember if I was indifferent or not.

There's still a long way to go in this series, and the potential is there for sure.

That's not to say it has been a disappointment so far. In my mind, it hasn't been. Do I know all the characters yet? Not totally. Do I really like the professor? Not really, he's kind of funny looking with the curly hair, and kind of comes off as a ######, but I'm willing to wait until the end to totally judge him in this film. We haven't even really seen Sledge yet.

I'm sure when we go back to watch Ep2 again and see what John did to earn his Medal of Honour, we will appreciate that scene a little more since we know what's coming. You can kind of pick up on those things better.

Spoiler:

I'm pretty sure John Basalone comes back anyway. Doesn't he get KIA in Iwo Jima? I think I read that. So it's not like he's just going to disappear off this series and just sell war bonds for 7 episodes.

To worth...

Yes he does come back, does some crazy stuff rambo style.

But of all the characters I'm rooting for, it's going to be the guy with the hot chick. I want to see more of her!

Must be cool to see yourself grow up on film.

I think he is a director now as well, can't remember the movies but one was about 9/11.

Finally got to see this past week's episode, I thought it was awful. I felt like I was watching a movie with my girlfriend when it's her turn to pick, rather than a war mini-series. I've been a big supporter of the Pacific so far and still am, and I'm sure the rest will be good and it was just one of those episodes. But that doesn't mean I can't hate this one. I know they gotta build the characters and agree with that, but let's keep the schmoopieness to that one episode please.

Next episode will be similar to BoB's Currahee (another relatively slow, character building ep.).

Hopefully it is as good as Currahee.

I really liked the Melbourne episode. I want to know what life was like as a soldier during the war. That was definitely a part of the life. I understand though why the xbox generation didn't like it. Which is disappointing.

I don't understand why people think some of us didn't like it because it had no battles. In particular, I didn't like it because it played out (to me) like a women's television show, not a war documentary. Currahee had no battle scenes and it was a tremendous episode. I just felt it was way to much "drama".

To be honest I didn't hate it.

Haha oh whatever. I'm in my mid 20's and am a History major. Believe me, realism is my #1 request when watching a war movie. It's why I thought 300 was garbage. It was one of my complaints with this episode, because I wanted to see more of war-era Melbourne, to get a feel for its culture and what the people were like. All I really felt we saw after the harbour was the inside of a bar while they picked up chicks, and then the Italian family's backyard. I'm fine with the slow moving, character building episodes, I just don't wanna watch an hour of a romance. I've already seen Pearl Harbour.

I'm fine with them showing Lucky build a relationship with that girl, but did it have to be the whole episode?? Why couldn't it be part, hell even half of it if you must, and then the rest show other troops going around Melbourne checking it out, maybe even being big men on campus at the bars, as I'm sure a lot of them were doing this as well, and not just falling in love with a particular girl and having tender, soft, Paschendale style sex with them. Anyways I'm not going to go on and on about how it sucked, as there's enough people in this thread ragging on Pacific and I'm one of its supporters. I'll just leave it as this episode sucked.

On a side note, no wonder Lucky was pissed off. An Italian-Aussie family let him live in their house, fed him amazing food, and let him nail their hot daughter. Dude had it made in the shade.

Another really great episode last night. The character development has been really good so far and I really find myself empathizing with Leckie.

After watching last nights EP I came the the realization that Pacific is going to be completely different from BoB. Rather than a war mini-series, its more of a war-time drama. Two different genre's, and I for one was hoping it would be more like BoB.

Oh well, still a decent sunday night show.

It is completely different than BoB. Last night's episode was fairly good. The way they did the scenes which Leckie was in the "hospital" were excellent and really gave the audience a bit of what a lot of these guys went through. The battle scene was excellent too, as a lot of battles in the Pacific were fought at night, complete darkness with tons of Japanese guys rushing you.

I actually like how they portrayed everything for the pacific. But is it just me or is Leckie (actor) not very easy to like? I'm not sure if it's his acting style or him... but I somehow don't really connect with him.

Not sure, but he was in the 3rd season of 24 and I felt the same way.

Just saw the new one last night, I thought it was a great character building episode. As much as I hated the previous episode, what happened between him and the Aussie girl at least helped me to understand how it, followed by the conditions on the new island, and witnessing a suicide ended up landing Leckey(who I've been calling "Lucky" to this point) in the loony bin briefly. I thought they really painted the ugliness of this theatre of the war(and war in general) well in this episode.

I hear ya about having some trouble relating to Leckey, this was the first episode where I started to sympathize with him a little, up to this point I didn't like him, and now I'd say I just don't mind him. He definitely is tough to relate to, unless you're a brooding Dillon from 90210 type I guess. I don't find the characters themselves near as likeable as I did in BoB, there's definitely no Winters or Nixon in this one. But I'm fine with that, because as mentioned before, that's not what this series is all about. And at least I can sympathize and understand them more now, unlike the first couple episodes when I didn't even care if they died.

I'm really enjoying the Pacific angle of the war, its just a completely different vibe. You can feel the lower sense of morale by the troops. I like it because, in BoB, even though they had to fight some tough odds, it still all took place at a point in the war when it wasn't really a matter of if they'd win, but when. The Allies were on the attack, knew their enemy well, and were pushing hard for Germany. Whereas in the Pacific, where we are now, the enemy is largely unknown and misunderstood, and this is at a point where victory was very much in doubt. This isn't a joint Allied attack, this was simply the U.S. vs. Japan. And at the point they're at now in the story, it was not looking good for them.
