Got mine today in Vegas and am loving it. For web surfing and email it is great. Superfast and responsive, very nice to look at. Using the ABC app is nice with streaming of tv shows, but that wont be available in Canada. Ibooks look pretty cool as well. This will replace our laptop.

I picked up mine in Vegas as well. A 45 minute wait and 5 minutes in the store. Not too bad for no reservation.
I haven't turned it on yet...
My wife hasn't updated the iTunes on her Macbook in a while so I'm sitting on slow ass internet trying to update it now. I'm really happy about this. It needs to be plugged into a computer with iTunes when you start it for the first time. Not something I expected.

So far this thing is great. The typing is super quick. Much quicker than the iPhone and quicker than my Mac. I was really surprised by this.
Surfing the web is about as cool as it look in the demos.
I also bought the case from Apple for it. Great design as usual.
I'll post a better review once I've had some more time to play with it.
What sucks, and it really sucks, is that I can't connect to my Canadian iTunes account. The reading I've done on it says that all international iTunes accounts are disabled to the iPad. I was hoping to download some apps before i got home by I'll have to wait until i get home to sync with my Mac. Hopefully i wont have to wait until the 24th.

Yeah, the whole Canadian iTunes store thing sucks.
I've had a US account open since i picked up a gift card from the states, and have just been buying those over eBay now and buying apps of the US store.

I could. I don't really want to have two iTunes accounts when i get back to Canada though. I'll wait a few days to sync from home. It'll be mild torture but i should be able to do it.

Footage of Crysis on an iPad. The graphics heavy lifting is outsourced to computers in the cloud.
Ladies and gentleman, this could change the face of computing forever. This is a brand new paradigm, completely changes the way I look at cloud computing.

At risk of being labelled a troll, the impressiveness of that demo is 5% iPad and 95% OTOY

i don't think that's trolling at all. It's more of a change how we look at computing than iPad specific

Is he actually controlling the game? I don't see any sorta of control overlay, and looks like his finger movements don't correspond with what's happening on screen. Kinda looks like he's just playing a movie and faking the inputs.

I'm not getting this.
First, I have been told that you have to activate your iPad with iTunes. Since you are using yours, I assumed that you already had synced with iTunes, no?
Also, when I go to Phoenix I'll be bringing my laptop with my iTunes library on it, so I should be able to put my existing apps on it. But since there are no iPad apps in the Canada store yet, we have to wait for things like iWork.

Like what? Where? I click App Store and then go where?
Okay, if I type in iPad in the search box I find a few.... but not the big ones we were looking for like iWork.
Now, I assume that the apps that I have already purchased for my phone like Bejeweled, will work just fine on the iPad, right?

Click on app store on the left hand bar, then enter “real racing” for example, in the search in the top right. You’ll see Real Racing HD as a separate entry under an iPad Apps heading

So I know there is no multitasking between apps, but can you have 2 Safari pages open and working at the same time?
As an example, can you listen to the Fan960 online stream on one Safari page and be surfing Calgarypuck at the same time??

Yes.
Many online streaming apps actually have this functionality built in. For example, in the Chorus Radio app, which I use to listen to CFNY, if you hold down the play button while in the app, it will kick the stream over to Safari and run it in a tab there so that you can use other apps while listening.
