What the heck does is matter if he retires as a Bronco, no one will remember him as anything other than a Bronco.
Still nice. Elam is one of my fave players because of his clutchness with the Broncos.

Dez Bryant who is one of the top receiving prospects is digging his own grave. He had his pro day yesterday and ran a 4.52 - 40 yard dash. He was asked to run again and posted a 4.68....he than did a third heat back at 4.52. Apparently he also failed to finish the three cone drill.

This guy was suspended for a good chunk of the year, and didn't bring his own cleats to the work out or so he claims. Now he's out making excuses.

I had seen mock drafts that had him in the top 12 picks....the way he's trending it looks like he's slipping.

"I'm not the type of person that will try to confront somebody, but now I feel like it's gone too far. It's gone too far," Bryant said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I ain't never got in trouble with nobody. I never said anything. I don't say anything wrong to nobody. I'm friendly. This here is too far.

He is from the same school as Michael Crabtree and is supposed to be even better than Crabtree. That should raise some alarms as he is also using the same agent as Michael Crabtree who organized last year's holdout, Eugene Parker.

Sounds like a recipe for another hold out.

I can't wait in a year or two when they finally have a rookie cap on contracts so we don't have to see any more of this BS. This should be priority #1 right now. Less cap space spent on unproven rookies, more for veterans who earned it.

It's funny I listen to NFL radio a lot and the opinions of people are really whacked. They agree that rookies are getting too much money. But Kevin Mawae who I think is like the top player representative in the Union says they proposed keeping rookie contracts at 3 years but with no cap on the value of the contracts. Right now most first contracts are 5-6 years on the high picks.

Problem there is that the guaranteed money is in the first 3 years on most of those and the fizzle out guys still end up being released after 4 years or so. So unless you also put a monetary limit on them it wouldn't accomplish much.

But than a former GM and a guy from the business end like Pat Kirwan comes on and says thats no good, those contracts are too short. If the guy works out you'll have to pay him again after 3 years and the player has the ability to walk too soon.

I think they need limits on the guaranteed money put in place and some set of standardized entry level deals like the NHL has. But with shorter careers and less time till unrestricted free agency, maybe they need 2 year entry level contracts.

Crabtree went to Texas Tech, Bryant went to Oklahoma State

The thing I will remember most about Elam is his complete willingness to tackle on kick offs. He never bailed out and took a couple of guys high and hard in his career.

If there is another HOF kicker, he might be the guy.

Bryant has also been attending Pac Man Jones' workouts. I'm not sure if he's part of Jones' posse or if he's just stupid. Either way, he's stupid.

100%. I think 2 year entry contracts would be perfect for the NFL. Like no more than $2 million/yr(if that even). Then you can have that "middle" contract the NHL used to have. Get it done.

High pick rookies do deserve to get paid, I think it should be a low base but high incentive based max.

Why a guy like AP who spends his time in college to get to the high pay pros and carries a team on his back and wins the ROY award needs to get paid.

I would set the base salaries for rookies at around 1 mil with incentives up to 7ish maybe.

^^^
I'm fine with that. As long as the guaranteed money is on the low, I have no problems. It's these $68 million with $31.5M guaranteed to guys like JaMarcus Russell that really chaps my ass, especially because it takes away money for vets who earned it.

Yeah, I don't think NFL teams would have a problem with paying a rookie up to 7 million a year with incentives if the player earns the contract. Teams inside the top 10 of the draft would be in a lot better shape if a bust player only ends up costing them 4 million as opposed to 20 if they don't work out. Hence why the limits can be on guaranteed money. Guys like Matt Ryan or Adrian Peterson who produce still deserve to get paid.

QB Buck Pierce is being courted after by the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Obviously the Panthers, Lions and Jags do not have CFL scouts.

The complete and utter stupidity of players never ceases to amaze...

Eagles trade Sheldon Brown and Chris Gocong to the Browns for a 4th, 5th, and Alex Hall.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5050119

This pretty much confirms to me that they're going to rebuild the secondary at the draft.

What an awful trade for the Eagles

Chris Gocong alone would have been enough then they throw their best cover corner in as well?

I wonder if they're stocking up on picks in case they want to make a move for Eric Berry since they've scheduled a visit with him.

Not really. Gocong was awful last year. Brown was traded because he wants a new contract and the Eagles weren't willing to give one to a guy who's really started to break down physically over the last few years.
