Yeah, they started as a church devoted to his blinding speed.
Now they're just a band.

Final Fantasy puts on a good show for those who are into his kind of music. It's a little off the wall but I like it.

Why genre of music is this? I can honestly say the only band I recognize is Andrew WK and thought he was a wash-up from the 90s. I'm not trying to cause anything, I'm just curious, that's all.

Andrew WK is a secret guest at the Legion one of the nights - I think on Thursday, but could be wrong.
Malajube should be a good show. I look forward to seeing the Breeders and Holy F. I've also heard some good things about Liars.

Wow... cool line-up. Makes me wish I was still in Calgary.
'Cut off your hands' is playing and they are supposed to be great in concert.
I'd also encourage everyone to see 'Rural Alberta Advantage' - whose debut I loved - and report back .

I've never seen them live, but I know they're a good draw in Toronto.

Caught Malajube, Biz Markie, Holy Fata , and Bend Sinister yesterday. All good acts. Wish I could have caught Woodhands, but too late for me.

Woodhands were great. Never heard them before, but the Legion upstairs was packed and everyone was jumping. One of the event organizers got the band to announce that the ceiling was bouncing in a scary fashion and to stop jumping so much.
I hear the Warehouse is the place to be tonight. Holy F are headlining, and they were really good at Olympic plaza.

Saw Ladyhawk on Thursday - solid set, real tight group you can tell that they've been together a while, then saw the DFE, Bliss and Gift of Gab show at a new space on 6th avenue called Local 522 last night. Amazing set and the space itself is good. Keep an eye out for more shows there, it's a good venue for live music, though I think they still have some issues to figure out with their sound-system.
Gift of Gab was fuggin' amazing.
Oh, and I got a new MacBook... and the girl I like... and the Flames got JBo's rights. Best Birthday ever?

Ugh, makes me sick to see that. Calgary artists move to Montreal (and it's always flucking Montreal) to hang out with other artists from Calgary and then talk about what a great scene Montreal has when it wouldn't exist if not for artists from Calgary moving there to create it.
Then they come to perform at the best indie music festival in Canada, Sled Island, as "Montreal" artists.
