Absolutely being completely objective is impossible. All I was trying to point out is that if I was Bingo I'd encourage the mods to drop the blatant pro-Flames/anti-Canucks/Oilers bias.

That being said, it isn't my site, and frankly I don't really care if Flames fans are allowed more leeway than rival fans because I'm a Flames fan. Sometimes I would like a little more balance but at the end of the day I totally respect the decision to be a pro-Flames site.

On the other hand, I am a fan of a rival team when it comes to the CFL. A hated rival. (Riders of course) Any time the Riders come up there are constant troll type posts from people posting stupid crap about the Riders and their fanbase. Sometimes I jump in and defend the Riders but generally I just play along with it and make jokes about the Riders sarcastically to show the utter stupidity of other posters biases/generalizations. At the end of the day though, I try and just ignore it because I know I'm on a pro-Calgary site and I probably won't win the argument. If I want a totally Riders slant I'll go to Riderfans.com, if I want a neutral view I'd go somewhere else too. Same applies to Canucks fans. They can try and defend their team but they need to realize this is a pro-Flames site and they need to deal with the oppositions viewpoint, even if it is often inflammatory and biased.

One thing I like about the current system is that you guys are very honest about the bias. CP is a Flames site and will give more leniency to Flames fans. The worst thing that could happen is for CP to become like Fox News. By that I mean preach that it is fair and balanced when in reality it actually is biased heavily towards one side.

To summarize, a more objective mod team might encourage more balanced discussion on topics about rival teams (or opinions on the Flames from rivals). By no means though am I trying to suggest the current system is broken. CP is a pro-Flames site and will be moderated as such. You guys are catering to your core audience, which I think is a good thing. It really all boils down to what the moderation team wants. Is CP a broad hockey forum? or is it a Flames forum?

I think a lot of it has to do with irrational hatred.

You see posters like Landshark and nhmen post stuff about their teams and people don't flip out. But a thread about the Canucks gets SO much hate.

Unfortunately Blaster, I think guys like you and Mayer, who are generally quality posters will have to continue to censor yourselves and just let the insults and trolling not bother you.

I think it is even hard for you guys to discuss the Flames without getting attacked by a certain segment of posters.

My only advice, which I'm sure you've heard a million times, is to ignore the dinks and just discuss/respond to people that want to have good hockey related discussions.

Personally I'd love to see a thread on the Canucks and have frequent updates about what you guys are happy with and disappointed with as the season progresses. If it turns out that I think some of you guys are bang on and honest, some of you guys are total pessimist and that others are total homers, then that is fine because I already deal that with Flames posters and ignore the people I think are out to lunch.

The biggest problem would be preventing such a thread from turning into a constant trollfest and pissing match and get locked because the idiots ruin it for the people that want to hear about their rival.

FTR, I HATE the nucks. Like hate them so much I probably couldn't date a chick that was a diehard Nucks fan. Nevertheless, as long as you aren't here to just cause trouble (which I know you aren't), I'd love to hear more opinions from people who watch more than the 10-20 Canucks games that I choose to watch.

And a Canuck Mod is a terrible idea. The Mods now do a great job, if people would just use the report post button more often these pissing matches and trolls wouldn't be an issue.

I can't believe we are STILL talking about this. A Nuck MOD makes NO SENSE. This is CALGARY puck, there has already been enough concessions made to Nuck posters.

Because it's a stupid idea. You want a Canuck mod? Go to a Canuck board. The mods here do a good job, sorry if some Canuck posters get dumped on, but you're in Flames country. What the hell do you expect? Not you specifically, but a lot of these Canuck posters try to do the backhanded compliment "oh no don't blame me" crap, and then cry when they get jumped on. Dude, it's a Flames site. Yes, we're going to crap on Luongo (like he does his pants). We're going to take Burrows to task for being a diving POS. It's to be expected.

I wouldn't sign up on a Canucks forum and expect to be welcomed with open arms. Yes, this is the best hockey discussion around, but you're still going to get a Flames slant, duh.
