Alternate version can't be a flashforward; it is happening in 2004 while the on-island events are happening in 2007.

It will be over but not truly over.
I think we are going to be bombarded with characters from the past in Seinfeld series finale style that were somehow, someway brought to the island by Jacob to slow the escape of the MIB until the new Jacob finally realizes his destiny.
I still have a ton of questions though that better be answered.
-Desmond (Maybe the second most interesting character, where is he?)
-Farraday (He seemed like a crazy dude, what was he up to?)
-Farraday's mother (Crazy old lady with big ass pendulum in basement what was that about?)
-Ben (Still don't entirely understand his story, is he just a wannabe bad guy leader, and is that it? or is there more to him?)
-Jacks Dad (I think more than just Jack saw him, was he one version of the smoke monster because he came to the island dead like Locke? If so why was his body missing and Locke's wasn't?)
I could go on.
One last thing, Sayid is my favorite character, bad dude who you just can't help but cheer for.....kinda like Mr Eko. I thought they deserved better fates.

IIRC They had big plans to involve Eko in this endgame storyline, the actor asked to leave the show. They spent a lot of time making him a major character, and then had to kill him off at the actor's request. Abrams said as much after Eko left.

Yes, he couldn't handle Hawaii and wanted to go back to London. I had also heard both his parents died in a car crash at around the same time.
I believe the things that were to happen in his story arc were given to Desmond.

Ya I forgot about that, I do remember hearing about that.
I remember the Mr Eko episode with his flashbacks. The one back when he was a drug lord......that episode was badass.

I didn't get to watch the episode until tonight, but thought it was awesome! I really liked the simple explanation of Jacobs. That the island houses evil and he is the one that keeps the "lid" on it from going around the world.
I heard the fact Michael wasn't on the island again was "fate", not sure what to make of that. Also, the black and white characters, I thought they were going to have a significant role, due to them being black and white, which has been a theme throughout.
Regardless, the Richard episode was incredible, I really liked it, hopefully the next ones keep up!

Michael? Walt's dad? Dude, he's dead, Jacks "dad" told him his work was done and he done got blowed up on the boat when it went up in flames. Unless I'm missing something here.

So you're going to take a dead guy on his word about what happened to Micheal?

That's what they want you to think...
The 2007 Losties somehow "reset" the timeline back to 2004 thus ending the loop of people brought to the Island by Jacob.

No, the producers have been very adamant about the fact that it is called a flash sideways and it is not an alternate timeline.
I think that the bomb exploding was a quantum event that created a new multiverse that is unnatural. It is a separate universe that is looped off of the normal timeline at the point that the bomb went off in 1977 and the people in this loop were imprinted with their island experiences. They have no actual history pre-1977. this is why jack couldn't remember having his appendix out.
The theory of the multiverse is that yes a universe exists for every possible outcome of a decision but there is a preferred path and it will course correct. Because this universe is unnatural and was created by a quantum event, something will happen to course correct and the two universes will merge.
One thing that people may have missed (I did) is that the man in black is now stuck in Locke's body because Jacob is dead. He can no longer take the form of people who are dead like Christian, Isabelle, etc. The producers said this on their last podcast.

Not sure if anyone's brought up Dark Tower, but yeah, don't read Dark Tower.

Yeah, I bought that and the Stand up a few pages ago. This is all too similar to the stand.
The villian is also all to similar to Randall Flagg/Richard Flanagin/The man in black.
I will give credit, the dark tower series started with one of my favorite quotes
"The dark man fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed him"

Well, CC nailed who was in the locked room. Although this episode makes me wonder if Widmore really is the bad guy. Curiouser and curiouser.

Interesting episode to say the least. Outside of the flash sideways stuff where we lean that Jin was the target of a hit not much there.
My guess is Desmond is special because of his earlier exposure to the electromagnetic energy, and remember that he showed that he can communicate across time, and maybe time lines. I think he's the only weapon that Widmore has that can be used against Locke.
I don't know if Locke monster really wanted to get Jin back, he wanted to know what was going on over there.
Overall, not much revealed tonight which surprised me as they're running out of time.
But we know if Locke gets off of the Island the loved ones of the main group will die.

I dunno what you guys have against the Dark Tower, it's an awesome series. Little bit long though...requires a massive time commitment.

I loved the dark tower but didn't finish it.
I've always thought it was a sequel to the stand

Mikhail came back, wonder if he died this time. Loved how he got shot in the eye to match the coincidence that as an Other he always wore a patch on that eye.

I, too, don't get the hate for the Dark Tower, but that's off-topic.
Anyway ... I'm getting increasingly antsy about the remaining episodes ... there just are not that many and it seems a lot of business to attend to. Every year it seems that I go through this and then the producers pull it out ... we'll see.
