I saw him 3 different times on Friday March 5th, the first time I was on my way to get an oil change and I noticed he was being Harrassed or Questioned by the Police. He had a large set-up on the green space that day..... 2 Day-Glo Plastic patio chairs, A 6 foot tall Dream-Catcher, 2 double ended Hockey sticks, several orange Hockey Balls could be seen and he also had his "Big Black Book".
The Cops had him standing in front of the cruiser with his "Big Black Book" opened on the hood of the car, as I was driving by it looked as if the cops wanted him to get something from his house because he retrieved his book and walked toward his house with his head down and looking like he'd had the wind taken from his sails.
......I'd LOVE to see what's in that book!!
Both other times I saw him that day he was just going about his weird business.
BTW: I think he's harmless, But on the 1 thru 10 weird scale? ....I'd have to give Mr. Southland an 11.

If it was 'Day-Glo' Orange, It was the infamous double ended Hockey Stick.

Haha, I think I saw the exact same thing! I live a few houses down from him, and saw the police questioning him while he was on the grass with his knees on the ground and his hands behind his head. It's weird I don't see him getting arrested more often in the five-ish years I've lived there, for "disturbing the peace" or something.
He's more harmless than anything, imo. I usually tend to ignore this antics for obvious reasons. He does have an obsession with reflective orange tape for some reason.
BTW, I'm thinking the "Big Black Book" is probably the Good Book. I remember seeing him with a huge sign praising Jesus sometime last summer.

Down in Bowness there is a woman always walking. She has messy grey hair. Minimal teeth and she always wears a long coat. I am not sure if the coat is a fur coat or not. But it is very fuzzy.

This thread brings it.
I brought this thread up with ma ol' lady (who lives in the proximity) today.
To my surprise, she has noticed Southland Larry on many occasions.
She watched him out in the Mini fields do the old flip-the-ball-in-the-air to windmill-the-ball-with-the-second blade trick repeated like 50 times in a row with out missing the ball once trick a couple of years ago, and has spotted him as far east as Heritage running past the Winners.
I would like to hear his story, as he's the Wayne Gretzky of his sport. I wish I knew the rules though.

I expected to see him today with the wind gusting around 70 Kmh. He seems to prefer crappy weather for his performances.

I saw Mr. Southland today hanging around near the Tim Hortons (Elbow & Sothland) and He was teaching a young kid how to master the "Double Ended Hockey Stick".
Funny, He was wearing a custom made Jacket with "Job 39:9" on the back.
When I got home I searched that verse from the King James Bible, This was the Result:
Job 39:9 = Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
Interesting to say the least!!

That real PM guy sounds like the guy who was handing out pamphlets at the University C-train station last year. Bonkers!

You'd see him out there in the middle of July, 30 degrees outside and he'd be hanging around the Macs on 8 St SW rocking his ski-doo suit and space helmet. I can only imagine what the guy smelled like - none of us ever got close enough to find out.

I think it may be this guys Canadian cousin:
