Thankfully I live in Vancouver now where schwarma is plentiful. Most of it seems to be of a Persian variety, which tastes slightly different, but is still delicious.

My only aversion is to the garlic breath that ensues for the rest of the day.
 |
It's still open. I went there around Christmas. It was decent, but I've had much better. Possibly different owners?

When you search for Jimmy on google it says corner of 20th ave and 13 street.

B oner's are so much better but I can't find a proper place in Calgary. I wish I was in Europe where I could find a B oner place every block and they only cost 2-3 Euro.
I loved seeing the meat on the rotisserie thing, I saw one where it was like 3 feet wide, it took 4 people to carry it.

B oner's are like the sole reason why I am hitting up the Arab countries in 2013, that and the history. |

It's a tough call for me. I find both The Donair Place and The Donair Grill (up 162nd closer to Bridlewood) to both be excellent. I slightly prefer the taste of Place and they have hot peppers, while the Grill has an extremely nice owner. I generally go with the Grill for that reason.

Not sure about Calgary, but I miss the awesome shawarma selection in Montreal. I have yet to find another Shawarma place, from LA to DC that included pickled turnip.
Oh how I miss that neon purple stick of awesomeness in each shawarma!

Why do people find the need, when asked about Donair places in CALGARY, to talk about some place they went to in Europe that was so much better than anything they can find in Calgary?
It seems like something that should be on Stuff White People Like.

Little Lebanon on 17th Ave & (around) 35th street. Great shawarma, and super friendly people. I've always got something free to try there too...
Their Large is massive and I can barely finish it. I usually just get the regular/medium.

They don't do that in other places? I thought that was a standard shawarma ingredient...

You'll find at least one of the following three places on every street in downtown Montreal: strip club, church, shawarma joint.

There used to be a really great Donair place on the main floor of Elveden centre, on 7ave. and 8st. This was about 5 years ago, it was called "Pops" I think. He ended up moving his shop because his lease couldn't be renewed or something along those lines. He moved a couple blocks away, but I'm not sure where, would anyone know where his new shop is, or if he is even still around?

Calgary's great for middle eastern food, east Indian food and Vietnamese food. And steak.

Not only is it the highlight of your meal it is the highlight of your urine. It turns piss pink for at least a day after. I thought I was dying the first time I saw that colour in the toilet.

Best one I've had is right across from SAIT...can't remember exactly what it's called, but hot damn is it ever delicious.
