Toronto's not this ultra-liberal bastion you think it is. Attitudes on most issues are pretty similar to those held in Calgary. I think Calgarians probably have a lot more in common to Torontonians than they do to a rural Albertan resident for instance.

The statements from the cops say they, despite what we were told, did not call anything off.
It's another publicity stunt from someone who does nothing but publicity stunts.
First, she complained about how a rep of the University had threatened her with with prosecution. The thick-headed among us lapped it up. I guess they think a provost at a university controls the justice system.
Then she pulled out of her "event" and claimed the cops had shut her down, and the lapping sounds continued.
Meanwhile, in the States, the lunatic fringe that she appeals to are going bat$hit about the healthcare bill. Death threats, vandalism, putting a coffin on a guy's lawn... And a few university students in Canada are "a violent mob".

Ok just got back from the red and white club and just experienced one of the most emberassing things in my life.
So two guys show up wearing KKK costumes with "we love you Ann" on their poster and me being a idiot walked up and ripped the sign out of one of the guys hand and continued to rip the sign. The guy next to me says yo they're actually protesting and are against Ann (green text on the poster should have been used!)
So i apoligized and walked off into the crowd and I could hear snickering and laughing behind me

I'll admit the KKK costume may send confusing signals, but what business did you have ripping up someone's sign? You're lucky you weren't arrested.

So my unerotic evening with Ann Coulter started at about 6:15 when my buddy and I got arrived at the Red and White Club. There were probably about 500 people already in line, with maybe about 50 protestors.
Got in, waited until 8:00. Event was pretty disorganized. It took them forever to get people through the line. Finally, the closed the line off after the venue was filled, maybe 1000 people inside with another 1000 turned away. So, pretty good turn-out.
Started off with Levant, who I must say for all his goofiness is a pretty decent speaker. Spoke about Albertan tolerance, made some cheap jabs at Ottawa, and talked the importance of diverse and opposing views in a democracy.
Coulter starts around 8:15 and holy cow, she sucked! It wasn't even funny, just the same old jibber-jabber about how conservatives get all the blame and liberals get away with murder. I left at about 9:00. Protestors had kicked a hole in the one of the glass doors and there were about 40 police officers around, probably outnumbering the protestors at this point.

To be honest I wasn't thinking straight. My blood pressure instantly rose when I seen the costume and assumed they were trying to start something. And kind of hard to be arrested when not one cop (atleast in uniform) was in sight. On my way out I seen 4 cops on bikes and that's all. Most security was done by 100 pound rent a cops.

Actually, they're not lucky, they're from Calgary. We don't incite riots based upon some moronic costumes. That's not how we do things here.

I saw those dudes and found it pretty taste-less myself. Do you really want to even come close to comparing Ann Coulter to the KKK? Idiots.

In any event, I wonder where they rented the Klan costume from. Calgary isn't exactly a Klan hotbed and KKK costumes are not exactly in demand, even at Halloween.
Me thinks a couple of losers stole their parents' bedsheets and lampshades and went to town...
