Homer Simpson - The most influential wordsmith since Shakespeare?
http://www.calgaryherald.com/enterta...787/story.html
Quote:
The survey on the which words from the "The Simpsons" have had an impact on the English language was based on answers from translators working around the world for a London-based translation agency. The results were as follows:
- 37% "D'oh!" - a grunt expressing frustration at realizing that things have gone wrong, or that one has just said or done something foolish.
- 13% "introubulate - to get someone into trouble.
- 11% "craptacular" - spectacularly crap.
- 10% "eat my shorts" - a dismissive insult.
- 9% "knowitallism" - describes Lisa Simpson's personality.
- 7% "embiggen" - to enlarge or empower.
- 6% "meh" - an interjection, suggesting deep indifference.
- 4% "learning juice" - beer.
- 3% "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" — the French.
- 1% "kwyjibo" - word made up by Homer Simpson to win Scrabble game. Defined as "a big dumb balding Northern American ape with no chin."

I know I've used most, if not all, of these words in regular conversation at one point!

Its not. Its a paradox.
An oxymoron is when the two words are used together, such as "old news" or "bad luck."

Nope, sorry. He's good, but he's not even in the same league as Homer Simpson. Trailer Park Boys hasn't been translated into 18 languages or so.

Eat my shorts, d'oh and meh are the only ones from the list that I recognize.
I've used d'oh before, but probably not since I was 10.
