On second thought, I think I would enjoy it even more if we packed the red and white club (now?) with people and they all talked to each other while she spoke.
You are free to speak all you like, but we don't have to listen to her hate.

Hey Peter, is there anyway that you can provide a summary for the rest of us that aren't going?

Yeah that would be sweet. Or organize something really rude, like have everyone bring an ipod, with their headphones in their ears the whole time, and have everyone turn around and face the back of the room, and bob along to music.

As cool as that would be, the smart protest would be to listen quietly and respectfully, then take her apart in the question and answer session.
"Yes Ann I do have a question about your view point on Liberal's and Muslims. Do your carpets match the draps?"
Just my two cents though.

I should be there. If they let me bring in a laptop I'll try and give updates as the evening progresses.

In light of what happened in Ottawa, he’s not surprised by the increased interest in Calgary

Knopff is a great guy. A renowned constitutional scholar of the more classical liberal school who clearly just believes in the need for free voices on campus.
That this short blurb would make you so intolerant to even taking a class with this guy more shows your own intellectual immaturity than anything else.

Ok, I am definitely going but I don't know if the U of C wireless internet will work at the Red & White club.
If I get permission to bring my laptop and get internet I'll post updates. I asked to bring my laptop to take notes either way so I could always post a writeup the following day.
Just an FYI for anyone else already registered or that wants to know:
Quote:
Admission for this event is $10 paid in cash only. If you are a student of any educational institution (high school, college, or university) please present a valid piece of student identification for free admission. For security reasons, no backpacks, laptop bags, large purses, or audio-visual recording devices will be allowed into the venue.
While there will be a Q&A to ensure open, intellectual discussion between attendees of the event and Ann Coulter, the Question and Answer period will be moderated, and any sort of ranting, heckling, or otherwise disrupting of the event will result in removal by security and/or police. As well, individuals caught recording this event will be removed.
|
(emphasis added)
Edit: Note registration is required. You register by emailing the event organizers and give them your name and in my case I told them I was a student of the U of C so I don't expect to pay.

Hmmm this is right across the street from where I live....might be worth ducking in for a few minutes to see what she has to say. $10 for entertainment isn't too bad at all, I would have to pay $12.50 for a movie + $20 for snacks, and this should provide much more entertainment.
Any idea on how long it is supposed to run for? And what time it starts at? (I wonder if my wireless router can reach that far....I'm quite literally across University drive. If it did, I would be willing to let whoever was in there have access so that they could update on her speech)

But are they are part of the vast right wing conspiracy that tried to destroy Billary?
Actually the fascists were demonstrating outside of UofO.

Not true. At least from the hetero perspective. The lefty chicks didn't shave, and didn't really know what to do.

I laugh at the "conservative media" and the "liberal media" accusations. It seems that each side throws that out there continuously.
If you're so far to the left, all media will seem right wing. And vice versa. If you're into Fox News, for example, everyone else is a lefty, commie, tree-hugging hippie - even media organizations that are moderate or even slightly to the right.

I have never actually watched FOX News and really have no desire to do so, but I think most media is left-ish. In Canada there is a fairly simple explanation because most of our media is from/for Toronto. Cannot speak for USA.

Registration is required. I emailed them like 2 days ago and just got a response this morning and I probably only got in because of the venue change.
calgary@coulterincanada.com is the address.
The email I got says no audio visual equipment or laptop bags or backpacks. I emailed back and asked if I could bring my laptop to take notes.
If I don't get internet there, I'll just post what I got the next day. If I don't get a response about the laptop I'll just bring a pad of paper and a pen.

You know Peter, i'm not criticizing him bringing her here but....
he is a political scientist who arranged the event but does not know of Ann Coulter's work?? hahahaha so why is he arranging this event? odd.
I know she is an idiot but she is anything but forgetful. To keep up with current news does he do the Palin thing and "reads ALL the newspapers"? So who is intolerant here?
