I knew you were going to claim it was a joke. There's a difference between trying to make someone laugh, and just trying to provoke a reaction. You, sir, were trolling. I don't care what you want to call it. It wasn't even on topic. It was just some random drive-by attempt to pick a fight.
I think you need to spend less time complaining about Vancouver fans and more time looking in the mirror.
Edit: And yes, I realize you're just going to call me a fanboy and high-five yourself, but that doesn't alter the reality of the situation at all.

I wonder how special I'd feel if I bought an HP Envy?
Come on, it's only $2500 at Best Buy, and it looks just like a Mac!
Err... well... except that it's made of plastic, it has multiple parts and is sh*t brown. It has lousy, non-dual band wireless, only a 6 cell battery and a track pad that tries to copy the Mac's multi-touch, but fails miserably. Yeah, it has an i7, but my Dell Studio laptop kicks the snot out of that Envy in specs, and I got it for $1300 less.
The best part is they even named it "Envy." Haha. Envious of what, exactly?

So you're saying the NHL Discipline Flow-chart by DGB wasn't funny? This is in the exact same vein...

Of course the DGB one was funny. It was written in a way that was intended to be funny.
That mac one wasn't funny. What's so funny about "if you're rich and don't like to make your own decisions, buy two iPads... otherwise buy a laptop." I mean, don't get me wrong... I'm not sitting in a corner feeling insulted or anything. I'm just saying that it wasn't funny. It didn't even make any sense... It was kinda like a fart joke or something juvenile like that. You just kind of roll your eyes and ignore it. In order for something to be funny, there should be some form of actual comedic content involved.
Unfortunately, he had to toss in the one below it which was never meant to be funny at all... which pretty much just makes both posts nothing more than an obvious bait attempt.

Yeah no kidding. I respond to say I wasn't going to bite, but then end up having to explain why I didn't think I needed to bite... so, in a roundabout way, he ended up getting the reaction he wanted anyway.
Man. These guys are good.

I think the flowchart is very funny, just like I think the mac vs. PC commercials are funny.. playing on a stereotype is funny.

Really? I get the "rich" stereotype... but the "not wanting to make your own decisions" thing is a Mac stereotype? I mean, I'm relatively new to the whole Mac scene (only switched a couple years ago)... was there an issue with older Macs that didn't allow users to make decisions?

I think it is probably because of the 'nazi like' (to quote Azure) stance Apple takes on the App Store and the other things of that nature.

Ohhh... I get it. It's the whole "having to jailbreak the phone in order to install unapproved apps" thing.

I thought the whole "Do you like making your own choices" -> "Yes" -> "Then why are you using this flowchart?" was the funniest part, it actually made me laugh out loud.
There's a bit of a Mac stereotype that people will buy whatever Apple puts out even if it is inferior in some ways, and to a degree it is true, Apple's products (early ones) often have limitations.. or for a while their computers were seriously underpowered for example.
The limitations are often outweighed by the benefits for most people, but the whole point of poking fun at stereotypes is to characterize them and ignore the good reasons!

Exactly!
Either you'll laugh or you won't, FanIn80, that is up to you. I thought they were humourous, so I posted them.
FWIW, I took the "don't like making your own choices" stereotype to be related to Apple being a closed-source system more than anything else.

my participation in this thread has been pretty limited, but i stop in from time to time.
this obviously is just my opinion so take it for what its worth:
fanin80: the ipad decision chart is funny. for anyone that knows the background of the nhl suspension chart, to see this is just a funny parody. sure it pokes fun at stereotypes, but thats one of the most used forms of comedy. the fact that you instantly get defensive and hate it is IMO one of the reasons many people assume you are indeed a 'fanboi' and make the comment (seriously or jokingly) all the time.
i can understand how easy it is to get defensive on the topic. i often get painted into corners on this board regarding the heat and the red wings. it can be easy to take jokes too seriously, defend myself way too much, and just be too serious in general.
i haven't read 75% of the posts in this thread, so maybe it got ugly and you have every right to be defensive, but just remember that when you have to defend yourself from the fanboi accusations.

The Apple trolling is the best part of this thread. I've been anti-Apple since using Apple IIs in elementary school.
I am typing on an Apple aluminum keyboard right now though... but I've reverse bootcamped Windows to work with it's special keys and OSD. I still wouldn't own one of their computers or official products unless I modded the hell out of it so I wouldn't be another Apple fanboy/Apple hipster. People used to buy an Apple product because they wanted to be different. Nowadays, it's almost completely the opposite.
Doesn't mean that I like Windows or PC's that much either. I just like choice, I never like the the stock configurations or GUIs that manufacturers supply. I have much more freedom with a PC. Buying an Apple is so conforming these days and I don't like the freedom taken away from me and being stuck with their corporate image.
That's why I won't own an Xbox 360 or a PS3 either. You are stuck with the firmware they come with, if you try to mod it, they brick your system. If your drive fails, you lose all your data as it's non-transferrable. With Apple's products, the permanent battery thing is stupid as well.
Speaking about the ipad specifically - I love the concept of the pad, I love Apple's multitouch. I only wish you could create your own interface entirely and not have to use Apple's interface, their firmware, their systems. Normally I would hope that some Taiwanese company would just clone the ipad with an open platform but I don't know of any OSs that would work as well with this concept. Windows sucks with tablets and touch interfaces from the Asus one I used to own.
