Hey guys, awesome that some others got the freebies too...you can try calling in now and saying that the site was down. Maybe the CSR will be nice and you can still get freebies?

Here's the scoop...

Clearlycontacts.ca is trying to give away 25,000 glasses in all of Canada.

The ClearlyContacts.ca 2010 Spectacular Canadian Glasses Giveaway is coming soon....

Clearly Contacts is on a mission to give away 25,000 pairs of glasses across Canada. Sign up at http://freeglasses.clearlycontacts.ca/

Throughout 2010, we'll be making stops at cities all over Canada with our free glasses giveaway. By signing up at the link above, you will be added to your city's VIP giveaway list. Once we make it to your city, you'll be emailed directly with the coupon code to get your free pair of glasses. You'll be able to use the code to choose any pair of glasses on the site for FREE. Only the first 500 customers to use the code in each city are eligible to get the free pair.

What you'll need:
- A computer! This is an online event, so you will use your code at www.ClearlyContacts.ca
- A copy of your current glasses prescription
- Your PD measurement. Sometimes this is on your prescription. If not, check out our instructional video below to see how to measure it.

RSVP as “Yes” and invite your friends and family to join the Event and get hooked up with a free pair, too!

Offer includes frame, standard 1.5 index lenses, A/R coating, UV coating and Scratch Resistant coating. One free pair per household. Shipping & handling applies. Customers who have already received a free pair of glasses from a previous promotion are not eligible. *If you wish to add a tint or upgrade to thinner lenses, you may do so and just pay the difference.

Tried this as well.

Worst case scenario: "sorry, you tried to gyp us so we steal your 17 bucks"
Moderate scenario: "sorry, you tried to gyp us here is your money back"
Best scenario: glasses delivered asap!

Hey guys...unrelated but those that wear contacts could you lend some advice and tell me a bit about them? I've had glasses for a couple years now and am thinking of giving them a try but I know nothing about them. Are the prices on clearly contacts site good for contacts? There seems to be so many types I wouldn't have a clue what to get. Thanks for any help.

If you know all the specs on your current contacts, could one just order any lenses with those same specs?

I tried contacts twice before and couldn't stand them. It always felt like there was something in my eye. Which, of course, there was. And moreover, I could never see well enough with them on.

Really wanting to get rid of the glasses, I went to a laser eye surgeon and he told me that he can't do anything with my prescription except remove the lenses and replace them with man-made lenses. I didn't like the idea of extracting my natural lenses. Plus he told me that I would have trouble focusing with artificial lenses, so he was going to make one eye focus on near objects and the other focused for far objects. All sounded ugly to me, so I decided to try contacts ONE LAST TIME.

This time I found a very good optician who was patient enough to:
(A) take the time to show me the proper procedure to put them in and take them out. Usually I can get them in on the first try now.
(B) tried out various strengths. Previous opticians just took my glasses prescription and gave me those as the contact strength. I have a +6 glasses prescription but desired a +7 contacts so that I can clearly see the iPhone. It sacrifices a bit of my long vision, but working on a computer with tiny resolution all day long means I dearly need good near vision.
(C) tried various brands. With the brand that I currently have, I can go most days without remembering that they are in my eyes.

I've been wearing the contacts every workday and work-evening for 3 weeks now and I'll definitely continue.

What I would suggest is sitting with an optician and working through things with him/her until you find a prescription and brand that works for you. THEN going to ClearlyContacts. I bought 6 boxes of lenses at the opticians for $100. Same 6 boxes on CC is $40 + tax + shipping.

I would think for your first pair you should go to an optometrist and get your eyes sized properly. They can also spot any potential problems that could result in wearing contacts. Plus they would likely give you a trial pair so you can see if you even want to wear contacts.

+1 to the previous poster - Go to an optician or better yet, optometrist and have a fitting - you can try a bunch of different trial pairs until you find one that you like. You'll wear them for a few hours at a time as you build up a tolerance.

Different contacts have different BCs (base curves) which effect how well they fit to your eye - a good pair and you wont even know you're wearing them!

I always order my contacts from Clearly contacts, but from the US site. Still cheaper than going thru the Canadian division. You will save by buying from the States. Even after shipping.

My gf had her order cancelled when she said "Calgary, SK" but her parents live in Ontario so she's going to try one of those days. How do you find the promo code?
