After Google was attacked in order to gain information about human rights activists in China it has dramatically changed its policy on censoring search results in China.

If they do end up closing shop in China, then I must say I will have to change my stance on the oh mighty evil google.

They've done it now. As of today, Google in China is uncensored (hits are re-directed to the Hong Kong page). China will likely respond by pulling their domain:
