I would just make a Canucks game thread sub forum. That is all they come here for and it is nice having the majority of stuff in one forum.

To be blunt, I can count on one hand the number of Canuck fans who are here to offer a decent opinion. And those few are easily drowned out by the garbage that makes up the majority of the worst fan base in hockey.
Don't sit here and cry because people on our side are trying to defend this place from the tidal wave of stupidity coming from Vancouver.

And this is a classic example of why we end up seeing more and more Canuck trolls.
- Caunck fan makes an decent post. Yes, slanted towards his team but I expect that from fans of other teams.
- Flames fan posts a reply that does more to bait trolls than to actually respond to the post.
- Then Canucks fans respond, and we get reported posts due to trolling.
I see all sorts of other things too. Recently in an OOT thread there was a post reported as trolling; the post was something like "Great save Luongo!" That is not trolling; it's a Canucks fan with an on-topic post.
It may be tougher to hear positive comments from Canucks fans right now; them in a winning battle for first in the NW and the Flames in a losing battle for the final playoff spot. But how did the Canucks get there? By winning more games than us.
If you see a legitimate trolling post (you guys all suck, too bad you don't have a good enough goalie/ traded half your team, etc) then you should do one of two things:
- Report it, then ignore it
- Ignore it
If you really want to get under a Troll's skin, the worst thing you can do to him is ignore his post. He will continue on, and after a while when nobody responds he head over to Oilfans.com to see if he can bait anybody there.

I've said it before, Ken, but if I cared what Canuck fans thought of the Canucks, I'd go to CDC or HF.
A couple years ago, there was generally decent banter between Flames and Canuck fans here. A few trolls, but they got put away eventually. It's gotten worse and worse over the past couple years because we've been inundated with idiot after idiot whose only purpose here is to push how great Vancouver is. They don't participate in anything but Canuck threads, and their only purpose in those threads is to push their pro-Vancouver agenda. They aren't here to contribute anything of value.
Of course Flames fans are going to retaliate. We do so because we are so sick of the overwhelming pile of crap they post that even the very few decent Canuck fans get caught up in it. That, frankly, is entirely the fault of the Vancouver fan base. The static to noise ratio is so bloody high that nobody is ever going to listen to or hear the useful contributions.
In the end, you are right. All one can do is ignore it. It is a damn shame that members have to be forced away from conversation on this site because of people who have no intention of contributing anything.

Whoa, just because I questioned your post doesn't mean that you go and insult me. And I do post in hockey related threads when I feel like I have something to add. If not I don't post. I agree with the mod team that one should stop baiting and instead ignore the trolls. This is after all a Flames message board. I don't think we should give the Canucks their own sub forum. In fact I don't understand why most of them come here. I don't post on CDC, or oilfans or HF for that matter.

I would prefer that they didn't have their own subforum and that they would just be removed by the moderating staff but they are only annoying and don't troll enough to warrant banning them(although personally I disagree about a few of them). We aren't going to get along and we sure aren't going to leave so if they aren't going to leave then something has to be done to accommodate them. If giving them their own stinky sub forum does that and keeps them out of our faces then I am all for it.

No dude. A couple years ago Flames fans were rude as hell toward Canuck fans. I've been saying that since then. But we were winning the games so we were winning the arguments and they either got along or left.
Now we're not winning the games so it's tougher to win the arguments and now the "debate" has reached this: a temper tantrum that a six year old emo would be ashamed of.
You had one agreeable sentence in that post (bonus points for irony!): The static to noise ratio is so bloody high that nobody is ever going to listen to or hear the useful contributions.

It won't help. Troll is here to troll. He'll be in FOI, The Backburner, Off Topic, Buy/Sell etc. It sounds to me like you think you can do a better job moderating this site than the mod team does now. Which I think is general asshattery.

No offense, but your posts seem to prove the point. If you just ignored them - literally - the problem would eventually disappear. And that goes for both sides; if the opposition fans ignored the segment of flames fans, then it would eventually stop. But neither do; instead they get into a giant back and forth, back and forth. Both sides - portions of both Flames fans and opposition fans - are to blame.

If you do an online poll on a website, say to find out what percentage of people own iPhones, you are going to get a specific result. If you do that same poll via how they normally do scientific polls, you'll get a different result. Why? Because the fact that the poll is on a website will skew the type of person you are getting to answer the poll.
Similarly, when a fan of another team registers here, the very fact they're registering on an opposing fan's forum means that the "% of trolls" per unit population is going to be higher than if we were able to survey all fans of a team that post on forums and figure out how many are trolls.
But it's not 100% in either case, and one of the goals of this site is to facilitate discussions from all fans.
So given that, I think every new poster needs to be given a chance. There's been cases of poor posters who have become a lot better after being given a chance.
How much of a chance is subjective, I'm by nature more forgiving and lenient, and personally I'd rather wait until it becomes obvious. Other mods give less rope, that's the nature of the beast, it's a subjective thing.
That said, there's currently 18 accounts sitting in the queue awaiting moderator approval, all from BC IP addresses, all registered in the past week or two... So yeah, it could be worse too.

Once you grant Canucks fans rights, you're gonna see them showing up in our game threads, PMing our women posters, and making friends with our noobies. I for one won't stand for this. The mixing of the two is not natural. I much prefer it when their kind have their message boards, and our kind have ours.

I barely post in OOT threads any more as they are an utter waste of time when there is a Vancouver game. And while I don't do it perfectly, admittedly, I pretty much don't bother with other threads involving the Canucks anymore for the same reason.
I can walk away from the problem, but that doesn't mean the problem does not exist.

Edmonton Oilers fans should also be banned, so that Vancouver Canucks fans don't feel singled out.
