Default Need help with virus/popups

Here is the issue I am having:

- Google Chrome wont load any webpage
- IE load very few webpages, the ones it doesnt says 'IE cannot load this webpage"
- Windows update fails with error code 0x80072EFF, and almost everything I try to download from a MS site gets blocked (above)
- Google searches on firefox open to popup sites or other crap

here is what I have done (in normal and safe mode, admin and the user login in question):
- ccleaner
- spyware terminator
- avg
- avast
- spybot search and destroy
- a-squared free
- malwarebytes
- IObit security 360
- trendmicro online
- ABP (popup blocker) installed

have also done a few pre-windows loading scans...

I have reinstalled, then removed google chrome, set IE and firefox to default settings.

I have also looked at processexplorer and have seen nothing out of the ordinary.

Here is my hijack this log (in safe mode)

In class and trying to pretend to pay attention so can't read that whole hijackthis log.

I am guessing that with everything you have ran and nothing has come up that enough is compromised that your AV is possibly not functioning properly. Try running something that doesn't install itself on your system or rely on it being uncompromised much.

Try making a Dr Web Live CD? or the standalone Dr Web scanner Cure it.

ESET's SysInpector doesn't clean the problem but helps you identify what is going on with your system to help focus your efforts.

Avast has another stand alone cleaner.

Other option is wipe it all clean and start again.

What version of windows?

If XP can you run system restore from command line safe mode? I think this KB article explains it pretty good.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449

Have you tried the recovery console?

If Vista or 7, have your tried Windows Recovery Enviroment or last known good configuration?

Edit: Some links from Wiki which might explain these better:

Recovery Console, Last Known Good Configuration, Safe Mode, Windows Recovery Environment

Start-Run-type 'msconfig'

You will have to disable some of the services in there that start with windows.....can you post a screenshot of what you have in there? I can tell you what to disable.

Basically you have to decide if you want to clean the machine and save your files, or just wipe it at this point.

If you don't want to screw with taking a screen shot you can also type

net start > file.txt

at a command prompt.

This will produce a file.txt with all windows services listed in it for easy cut and paste

Like Rathji says, I would recommend Dr. Web. My friend is dealing with a bad infection of fakealert right now that is corrupting every single exe on his drive because he was relying on Bitdefender (crap).

We are Dr. Web cleaning it right now.

Hitman Pro has performed better for me than anything Dr. Web has out.

The main reason I like Dr Web is the Live CD and if you download cure it! it renames itself to a random name to prevent simplistic virus intervention in its running.

I have not tried Hitman Pro before, and will check it out.

Im hoping I dont have to reinstall...

I did not try system restore under the recovery console.

Hitman pro appeared to get rid of the rootkit and proxy server address that was going on.

Thanks all!
