What an awful episode. I'm not sure how you can make "filler" episodes like this on your last season with only 8 episodes to go. Nothing to move the story along at all.
Luckily next weeks episode is suppose to be huge and finally move the story along.

My latest idea after watching tonights episode is that Aaron is Old Smokey. Locke made that really odd comment to Kate that Now Aaron has a crazy Mom to. At some point in one of the realities Aaron gets sent back in time to the start completing the loop that smokey and Jacob talked about at the end of last season.
Also Aaron is a solid biblical name being the guy who created the false God when Moses went up the mountain. Seems almost to obvious so possibly a red hearing.
Also goes back to season 1 and the whole reading from the psychic (Believes in Destiny therefore Jacob) that Claire must raise this baby.

I thought he was referring to his mother as being Taweret, which is what some seem to think the 4 toed statue is. Figured him and Jacob were brothers.
From Wikipedia
The name "Taweret" means, "she who is great" or simply, "great one" [1]. When paired with another deity, she became the demon-wife of Apep, the original god of evil.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taweret
Seems to fit into the Egyptian mythology that the show loves.

There are enough clues and red herrings and themes in this show that you can find evidence for any theory you choose.

Sawyer sure handled being told Locke's dead body is now inhabited by the killer monster that they've been running from in the jungle for the past 2 months pretty well.

I dont know that it was terrible tad weak aka Filler. It moved the story along a bit. Wittmore going againsts Locke . He always seemed to be the bad guy now may be the Hero? Him and Ben now have a common cause that should be interesting.
bit more insight into Nemisis, not much but some insight.
The Richard story should be alot of fun to watch. Pattern seems to be every second week is the cant miss episode.

While I'm convinced that Locke needs those people to get off of the Island, I don't think that he wants them to get off of the Island.
I'm thinking cannon fodder myself while he makes his escape.

It was confirmed by the writers in a podcast a while ago that it is indeed Tawaret.
That being said, how syck was that opening sequence with Sawyer as the undercover cop? I loved that opening, one of my favourites. Especially the "magic word" being Lafleur

I don't know what will happen but I felt like Widmore is actually serving Smokey. I don't really have anything to base that on other then Widmore's obsession to find the island is to get back to Smokey.

All I know is that there is a lot of crap to pack into the final 8 episodes.
The flash sideways I think are quite interesting, but there is so many of them with worthwhile story lines it is almost impossible to fit it in.

First and foremost, I think everyone of the major characters is going to die in the Island reality, I think they will be given a choice by Locke or Jacob where they can view the life that happened with the Island and without the Island and they have to choose. If they choose the Island their counterpart dies horribly, if they choose the alternate life then they die horribly on the Island.
I bet the same is going to happen with Locke as well. When he talks about leaving the Island they won't be physically leaving the Island.
I've noticed that as the characters have been redeemed on the Island they've been redeemed in alternate life. Thats why Sawyers life is still a mess off Island, and Syaid's life is a mess off of the Island.
But I think they're all going to have to make the same choice.
And thats why the Island is so desired by the Bens and the Jacobs and the Widemores, because it will allow them to choose their reality.

I have been finding a good portion of the season a bit underwhelming myself.
I have not found the flash sideways to be as enduring as either the flash backwards, or the flash forwards. While they are interesting they serve little to no purpose to what is going on the island (at least as of now), and just seem to be filler in general.
The only purpose it is serving is showing how many of the characters meet in the end anyway eg: (Sawyer with Miles, Charlotte, and Kate), Jack (Dogen, and Locke), Kate (Claire, Ethan, Sawyer), Sayid (Jin, Keamey), Ben (Artz, Locke) etc. They did the same in the first couple seasons as well so it is mildly interesting. I liked Sayid's, and Sawyer's flash sideways, but the others really didn't do too much for me. Plus you know they have to explain why Jin was locked up in the cellar, and other issues that will need explaining.
The on island stuff is great as always and while they are running out of episodes you can tell they are building for a massive last few episodes. If I had it my way they should have done flashback's again this season since the real mysteries they have to end up explaining are on island issues (what actually happened to Claire for example). I also feel they could of done the season without any flashes at all since the season was short for a finalie season to begin with.
I will be sure to keep watching though.

At first i was quick to agree...but what do the survivors owe him? sawyer would just say "kill him and see if i care" and that would be that.... Although i am curious how they are going to tie him into the current story.
