Just now listening to the latest offering from AIRBOURNE. (No Guts, No Glory)
May not be the most stylistic of Bands, But they are certainly easy to listen to...even if they are labled as an AC/DC rip-off.

Mark Linkous, the singer-songwriter who released his music under the band name Sparklehorse, has died after shooting himself in the chest in Tennessee. He was 47.
....
Mr. Linkous was popular in the indie music scene with a unique sound that was engaging, ethereal, and hauntingly beautiful.

WTF? just read this now, hadn't heard it anywhere else. What a shame.

Luisterpaal has quite a few new albums up for listening.
http://3voor12.vpro.nl/luisterpaal/
This Dutch site has full albums legally available to stream. The selection can be pretty mixed at times. New albums are usually added every few days.
Currently they have the new:
Gorillaz
The Besnard Lakes
BRMC (Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club)
Drive By Truckers
..... as well as others

6 days until the Weakerthans live album comes out! Jacked for it, since I went to their show at Mac Hall last year. Maybe I'll even be on the DVD!

Every good album collection needs a little trash scattered in there for good measure.

not sure if it was noted in here, but Frightened Rabbit's new one 'The Winter of Mixed Drinks' is out now. I quite like it... less catchy than 'Midnight Organ Fight' but less cloying too. Not much press about this new one, at least from what I've seen.
Also Josh Rouse has a new record out 'El Turista'.
In addition to The National's highly anticipated new record, Band of Horses, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, LCD Soundsystem, and the Hold Steady all have records out this spring too. Crazy!

I've only heard of about 3 bands listed on the last 3 pages.
You would think that "indie" music was modern day "pop" music from all the people that allegedly listen to it.

"allegedly"? So posters aren't listening to/anticipating the things they're listing?
It seems totally reasonable to me that people actively posting in an 'upcoming cd releases' thread on a hockey forum are going to have broader, diverse, and less conventional musical taste than the typical musical consumer.

Yep, I'm just trying to fit in. Half of the bands I've mentioned are made up.

Our album was released on Independence day in 08. We built the album with our own funds and designed the album artwork & website design on our own as well. The help we did use was primarily from local establishments. If you haven't heard about it already on here than you can goto our website and download the album free. Currently writing more material and looking forward to our next studio projects, will keep you all posted on any new material we come up with as we go.
Heavy Jack ~ Multiply Download
Enjoy the tunes all!!
