I guess the competition could push Orton to be better. He's been pretty good in Denver thus far though.

I think it allows it because Quinn was considered one of the top QB in his draft class that's not too far removed. He does have potential to be better and might trive in having a new environment to play in. If he does well he can push Orton to play better since it would be good competition. With all that said Broncos can take an extra year from drafting a possible future franchise QB if the quarterback situation still calls for one if Orton and Quinn aren't capable of being that type of QB down the road. Orton does well enough, but doesn't have the deep ball game to spread the defense out and control the feild.

Delhomme has been a very good NFL QB. At 35, the question is whether 2009 was an aberration, or whether he can return to form (on a bad team).
Quinn will never have a resume like this:

That said I think I would have shown up to get that 250k bonus and worry about going back to school after I know I've lost my job in the NFL. Although for a guy like Warren that 250 grand probably doesn't mean as much to him as finishing his school now so he can help out others as soon as his football days are done.

Hey hey, Jamarcus did show up today for conditioning! Sounds like he's done a 180, I'm calling it right now....Pro Bowl!
http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/03/16/russ...tary-workouts/
From the who really cares file....Chiefs sign former Colts guard Ryan Lilja
http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/03/16/chie...ree-year-deal/
He was good enough to start 16 games in Indy, so you'd think he'd upgrade KC. Than again Peyton Manning is easier to block for than Matt Cassel, and the Colts were not a very good running team. So maybe he really sucks.

Quinn's deep throws pale in comparison to Orton's...and that's saying something.
Who said they had to draft a QB in this draft? I certainly wasn't expecting it or hoping for it.
The price looks to be more than reasonable, but I will be shocked if Quinn ever does anything noteworthy in a Bronco uniform.

Lilja is a no brainer for the Chiefs. It's been a nice offseason thus far in Kansas City.,

Did Quinn not have much of a deep ball in college? I don't know much about his play then and now since he sucks and all.
They didn't have to pick a QB, but this move gives more insurance that the Broncos won't be necessarily looking for one in the first two days. If they pick a QB, probably be a low round pick if anything.
I'm not betting much for Quinn to be anything special for the Broncos either, which is why the price we gave up to get him doesn't phase me.
It's nice to see a trade from a favorite team that doesn't make me question that deal.

Broncos did bring in Pike from Cincinnati for a workout. Speculation they'll grab him in the later rounds.

Carroll certainly putting his mark on the defense with all sorts of minor moves the last few days. Also, looking to stockpile some more draft picks.
Makes sense to pick up what he can draft pick wise while revamping...the NFC west is wide open this year, and even in a rebuilding year, SEA can win the division with Smith in SF, Leinart and Boldon-less in ARI and St. L being St. L.

I know you're kidding, but with the way people drop out of the Pro Bowl lately(especially now that the two Super Bowl teams can't attend), anything's possible. Exhibit A: David Garrard in the Pro Bowl this past year.
That said, I think JaMarcus will be a Blue Bomber in another year or two...then six months after that, maybe a janitor. He's up there with Ryan Leaf.

Well JaMarcus will not be in pro bowl competition with Rex Grosman or Derek Anderson this year....they're both off to the NFC.
Grossman signs with the Red Skins, and Anderson goes to the Cardinals. Who knows maybe with the Arizona receivers Anderson can just heave it up and let Fitzgerald and Breaston pull down his prayers.

Key word there is has.
There is no doubt that 2009 wasn't an aberration and is the Qb that he is at this point.

Eagles released Shawn Andrews today. Good move. All the talent in the world but a complete headcase.

Seattle trades down from pick 40 to pick 60 and also surrenders a 2011 3rd round pick to San Diego to get their third string QB Charlie Whitehurst, who than gets a 2 year 10 million dollar deal. Whitehurst IIRC has always been the #3 in San Diego and has never taken an NFL snap.
With the recent moves I think this means Washington is not taking a QB, and I don't think Seattle will be taking one either in this draft.
Other rumblings that the Lions may be considering going with Okung for their #2 pick since they traded for Korey Williams, signed Vanden Bosh, and are entertaining another D Tackle. Might be a good idea given the pounding Stafford took last year.
If this happens than one of Suh or McCoy, and most likely Suh could start dropping as the Skins are expected to go with an offensive lineman and the Chiefs may not want to spend another top 5 pick on the defensive line.

Im no football expert by any means by why would Detroit not take an offensive lineman. Stafford got absolutely killed last year, why not protect your golden boy. Seems they would learn from Texas' mistake with Carr.

An article I read also had SD and SEA swapping the 3rd round picks over the next couple years, we'll see how it all shakes out when official.
Not sure on this one giving up two picks like that, but had to give up something more as SD was due for a 3rd round pick as compensation, something SEA didn't have.
Clearly Carroll sees Whitehurst as a better option then his chances of getting the QB he wants in the #6 spot.
Hasslebeck was acquired under similar circumstances from GB in 2001, after having taken very little reg. season snaps...2 year deal so not the end of the world, but given the money that they are paying Whitehurst, they expect him to play if Hasslebeck looks even remotely useless/disinterested; something desperatley needed on the team after watching Hasslebeck walk off the field shaking his head in bewilderment after another incomplete pass or interception, the past 2+ seasons, but with no concern that Wallace was going to replace him next series.
With the QB situation somewhat firmed up now, (as well as filling in some depth gaps over the past two days at RB and DE) interesting to see what SEA does. IMO they trade down from one of their 1st round positions to pick up another couple picks later on.
Also, wondering if the Marshall thing still has legs or not, which could effect one of those picks, maybe.

I'm really hoping the interest for Marshall fizzles due to the high asking price and that the Broncos sign him to a nice fair extension. It would be idiotic to give him away.
