Moose Jaw just lost in a shoot out to Swift Current so the Hitmen will play Moose Jaw in the first round starting Thursday.

Hitmen beat the Rebels 8-1 in a meaningless game.

Wow I'm getting tired of going to Hitmen games and seeing blowouts, hopefully playoff hockey will change that and I'll get to see more than two home games.

At least the annoying girl behind me was relatively quiet today.

I don't expect the Warriors will present much of a challenge, but odds are that we'll be facing either Kootenay or Medicine Hat in the second round, which would make for a good series.

With that said, watch both the Hitmen and Wheat Kings get upset in the first round...

That would be awesome!!!

But, it's not going to happen. I would be incredibly surprised if either of those series went longer than 5 games. The Hitmen will likely take it in four straight.

Probably, but Moose Jaw beat us twice, and took a third game into overtime. Course, those all happened before this locomotive got rolling. The Hitmen's train theme has been rather appropriate the past two seasons.

The Warriors wins were against backup goaltenders though. They did not beat Jones and are unlikely to do so. Sure, there's a reason they play the games but, quite frankly, the Hitmen have been playing their own darn game for a while and nobody else is invited.

Yeah, ain't it great?

23-2-0-1 in our last 26 games... and both of those regulation losses came to Brandon.

And who was the other loss to? None other than the Rebels! Yes! That's an achievement in itself. Forget the 8-1 win the Rebels shootout win was much more important!

Happy that the Rebels made the playoffs. However, really looking forward to next couple of years when the Rebs should be real good. We 'might' even beat your lot in regulation next season....maybe.

Sure, here are matchups. 1 point for picking the right team and a bonus point for picking the right number of games it takes for the winner to win.

Calgary v Moose Jaw
Brandon v Swift Current
Saskatoon v Red Deer
Kootenay v Medicine Hat

Tri-Cities v Chilliwack
Vancouver v Kamloops
Everett v Kelowna
Spokane v Portland

My picks:
Cal in 4
Brandon in 4
RD in 7
Kootenay in 7

Ams in 5
Kamloops in 7
Tips in 6
Hawks in 7

Hard to pick upsets in the first round. The top three in the East are so dominant, while the bottom three in the West are utter crap.

Wishful thinking notwithstanding, the Blades have been going the wrong way the last 10-15 games or so. If there is going to be an upset, Red Deer is going to do it.

Yeah, the Rebels have too unfortunately. This reversal of fortune pretty much coincided with the team clinching their playoff berth. Hopefully that's all it is and they will turn it on again in the playoffs.

A Hitmen-Rebels tilt in the second round would be a lot of fun. The outcome would be ultimately obvious but it would be great to see nonetheless.
