It's only lame with respect to the fact you must make them 24 hours in advance. Going there sucks when it's a last minute type of dea.

+1 for Fats, used to go there all the time when I lived in Sunnyside.

Dont go to many pubs these days, I did go to Pinch and Feather in the SW to watch UEFA cup finals a year or so ago. It was early afternoon so cant say much for business etc, food was ok though and wasnt over priced. Not as nice as Fats obviously but was ok.

That's just off the top of my head.
Kilkenny is one of the worst pubs IMO.

They just opened a new place in Cranston called the Berwick. I haven't been there yet but looks like a cool place, always seems to be busy when I drive by. I'm interested to see if they have implemented their hiring and wardrobe practices there.
Is it still good there? I've heard, now this only hearsay, that since the Brewsters in McKenzie Towne opened everything changed. White collar go to Brewsters - blue collar go to the Kilt. This has ended seeing the Kilt kind of become a sketchy place with lots of fights. Any truth to that?

Apparently Saturday is Kareoke Night. I'm not a guy that minds Kareoke, but the people here were so bad we eventually left the bar. One woman was so terrible the entire bar would collectively sigh, but they let her back up three times.

There was actually a guy there dressed in a cheap Suit that actually thought he was Rico Suave. He would sing boy band songs, and try to do his best boy band impression dance why going to different groups of 40 year old cougars tables. At one point I asked the bar tender if this person was all their mentally, and her response was "Unfortunetly, yes". Apparently he is there every Saturday, so if anyone here wants a good laugh and are in the area, maybe you should pop in a for drink.
I know who you're talking about and that guy is hilarious. Rips is definitely an acquired taste. It is a dump, but it is a dive bar that I really enjoy.

I go to the Kilt every couple of weeks and I haven't really noticed a change in the clientele. I enjoy the atmosphere and convenience of the location.

This reminds me of this character that used to frequent the "Rat and Parrot" by Canyon Meadows station. The guy called himself "Delvis", and was a hardcore Elvis impersonator. He'd show up every Wednesday night for Karaoke and he'd get so into it, running through the crowds with the mic with his see-through shirts and leather pants. Sometimes I see him driving his minivan around, with the novelty license plate that reads "DELVIS". Anyone know this guy?

The Ship and Anchor is an enjoyable time...went there after the gold medal win. 'Twas quite rowdy.

I don't really mind the Kilk. It's nothing mindblowing, but 8 dollar schooners of decent draughts and 10 dollar pitchers of terrible beer get me going.

I'll have to check out Rip's...I live pretty close to there, and I really want a dive bar to be able to hang out in.

1410 -- They have great Mussels and a relatively cheap and tasty Steak Sandwich + King crab combination. Also the Pita and Tzatiki (sp?) is really good.

Point and Feather - Ogden --- Many memorable nights there... NTN trivia and Point Pints!

Way overpriced and the service is pretty mediocre.

I do like Jamesons though.

I'm ranking the pubs based on price, atmostphere, beer and hard liquor selection and how good/many TVs they have. Also, quality of food is important.

I don't frequently drink premium beer/liquor but when I want a JW Gold I want a pub that has it.

That is also why I like Coach & Horses. They have some really good beers that aren't available at most pubs. They also have good service and good food. It is like 40 minutes from my house but I love going there.

More pubs would bring it it, but they can't because they're customers don't tip enough. Therefore not making it economically viable to have premium beers.

Keep in mind I really like Rips. That place is a hole in the ground but they have cheap drinks, good pizza and good service.

One good reason is them recently dropping Wild Rose beers in exchange for Kokanee and Coors Light.

That's a pretty far fall for a place that used to offer a ton of unique beers on tap.

I don't get it. Why does it have to be based on tips? Why not just charge more for the beer? Pretty well every pub charges more for premium beer already.
