yeah, i certainly understand not wanting to cater to canucks fans. for me its not much putting the annoying ones on ignore, but that the whole OOT thread gets hijacked into a canucks thread.

i just can't think of any other way to save the OOT's. they are some of my favorite threads in the FOI forum. (especially when the wings play!)

Canuck trolls signing on CP are getting quite frequent. Perhaps a zero tolerance for canuck trolls.

Also a +1 for Swedish Express to the list with Lieu On Go for blatantly ignoring a mod for fighting in a thread

I'm sorry but I just don't see the benefit of any of these posters. Not trying to be a rude or anything to the moderator staff who have their plates more than full lately, but it's almost hitting a tipping point. Every thread that mentions vancouver turns into a bash-fest, and it's both sides to blame. But I fully support giving a bit of slack to the good guys and unmercifully weilding the ban hammer to the bad ones.

As a Flames fan, I see part of the problem is every pro-canuck post/point needs to be irrefutably defeated.

It's one thing when they start trolling unrelated threads (which the mods do a fine job of patrolling), but in the Canuck diving thread a canucklehead made a good point about 4 on 4 is not advantageous to the Canucks - and the thread went in the toilet. That wasn't trolling, it was a fair point but it wasn't welcome because it was pro-canucks. Since they are welcome to discuss hockey (and it would be a sad state of Flames fans if they were not) then Flames fans need to get over this complex of hating everything that might reflect well on our rivals.

What do you expect all they get is inundated with people calling them trolls, telling them how horrible their fan base is, etc. Even the known good posters get needlessly attacked for simply being a fan of a different team.

Not that there aren't people here just to stir the pot, but in order to separate those from those who simply want to talk hockey you have to be able to determine the poster's motivation, and that is made completely impossible by the constant attacks by some Flames fans.

We want fans of other teams to be welcome here to talk hockey, if someone doesn't like that then too bad. If someone wants a forum where Canucks fans are kept in a cage and only trotted out for derision and mocking then I suggest they go somewhere else.

All to often to me (my view as a poster, not as a moderator), it's some Flames fans' posts that make the atmosphere poisonous and confrontational that leads to OOT threads like last nights, not Canucks fans.

I think it's both Pho. Your points are valid but at the same time there is a pattern of new Canuck posters coming to the site almost every time Vancouver wins.

Ultimately both groups of fans need to knock it off.

That's true they do, there's a definite pattern of which IPs register when.

It's just hard to give someone the benefit of the doubt and try and evaluate them impartially when they're driven to defend themselves instantly by accusations of troll.

Or I just dealt with a reported post (for info for anyone else reading, Jiri can see the mod threads) where a Canuck fan's post was reported for one thing, but to me it was clear the post was made sarcastically and tongue in cheek, not offensive at all but funny! But this poster was angered enough to report the post, and had I not PMed them they would have gone on thinking how bad that poster was. And other posters in that thread probably think the same thing.. but instead of giving someone the benefit of the doubt and seeing the post as funny, they'll just chalk it up to more "Canuck fan asshattery" and the negativity will continue.

So yeah I agree, both groups of fans need to bring it back a notch, I just don't like seeing our posters behave that way because they're the ones I care about as a group as they set the tone, rather than the odd random Canuck poster.
