Not CD news, but Them Crooked Vultures will be on SNL in two weeks on Feb. 6

One of my favorite 80's bands is back Feb. 22nd:

http://www.shakenstir.co.uk/index.ph...reviews/13730/

Jason & The Scorchers HALCYON TIMES (JCPL) Release Date: 22 February 2010

Imagine roots, rock and country all in one package - it’s here! Jason & The Scorchers’s shows revolutionised the way people thought of rock ‘n’ roll and country music. This was 1982, a time when playing a country song wearing a Mohawk or shaved head could land the performer in the hospital. No one ever came away from a Scorchers show without having a strong opinion about it. People either wanted to feed them or fight them, and both extremes happened regularly.

HALCYON TIMES is the band’s first album of all new material since 1996, and it’s a hoot! The album is a creative leap forward, showing the band at its peak, not on some sort of self-absorbed nostalgia trip.

They succeeded in making a JATS record that captures the live energy of the band, with enough ear candy to keep one coming back for repeated doses. Our first review of 2010 and waddya know, a potential album of the year already! ESSENTIAL.

It has not impressed me much so far - very stripped down - no hooks.

Not a new CD, but an unreleased Jimi Hendrix song has now been released. Sick song.

Any Butch Walker fans?

New album came out last week, "I Liked You Better When You Had No Heart". Incredible songwriter, his solo albums are always great.

The new Hendrix album, Valleys of Neptune, came out yesterday. Really strong album and one of the better compilations of his studio work. Title track is great and has some killer instrumentals. Seems to be later era Hendrix (i.e. kind of funky Band of Gypsy-ish). It makes me recall how good the man was.

It's probably been mentioned already, but the new Cancer Bats album comes out April 13th.

That is freaking unforgivable, people dont touch Robert Johnson's music, he is a legend never to be duplicated. Anyone got the latest Johhny Cash album - reviews?

White Stripes live album comes out next Tuesday! Songs taken from when they toured across Canada. The Calgary show was amazing.

The entire album is streaming here:

Don;t think I saw this, so feel free to correct me otherwise, but figured this was the best spot to put this?

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ob..._sparklehorse/

Mark Linkous, the singer-songwriter who released his music under the band name Sparklehorse, has died after shooting himself in the chest in Tennessee. He was 47.
....
Mr. Linkous was popular in the indie music scene with a unique sound that was engaging, ethereal, and hauntingly beautiful.

I hope they make it somewhere close to Canada for their tour, I'd love to see them. Boxer is still one of my most listened to albums.
