I don't like Don Cheadle either, I don't know why. I've only ever liked him in Boogie Nights. Seeing him as War Machine in this movie doesn't really work.
|
Ahh I see. Still brutal news, but at least it was because the actor got a big head, and not because Favreau wanted to take the character in a new direction(Favreau's at least still directing isn't he?). I can at least accept the former.
Ya Cheadle's funny in that movie, I still didn't like him much though. Only thing I've really liked him in was Hotel Rwanda. Just saw Brooklyn's Finest and I hated him in that too. He was playing more of a bling bling street thug role, I just couldn't buy it. It'd be like seeing Jason Portwando in that role.

I'm actually glad they bailed on Terrance Howard, he was being a whiny bitch.
I dont think Cheadle was the answer though.
Is there really such a vacuum of qualified black action hero actors?
I think Eddie Griffin was available...

I'm ok with Cheadle. In my dream world having Will Smith as War Machine would be ridiculously awesome, but alas he would be too expensive I imagine. Although they would probably make a ######ed amount of money if he was in it too.

This casting news makes me want to vomit.
Marvel is SO hit and miss with their movies. It seems like there is a quota for crap.
Cap needs to be a strapping young lad with a chiseled jaw. Someone like Chris Pine.

True. Normally I don't believe any movie news until IGN posts it as confirmed. And last update from them on Cap was that John Kraskinski and Jensen Ackles were the front runners.

Hell, why not just let Sam Worthington do it.
He's in every other major blockbuster that comes out nowadays.

I wonder if Kirk's Dad from Star Trek would be a better CA rather than Thor.

While were on the subject, other strong rumours have Jeremy Renner (the Hurt Locker) as Hawkeye. They say he's seen the costume and the hint is no purple. So theyre looking at a more realistic costume for him.

I could actually see that. He has the smart ass vibe that Hawkeye needs.

Apparently there may have been problems Tarrance Howard's "on-screen conduct"
Quote:
Hollywood insiders believe the exit stems from Terrence Howard's difficult behavior on the set of Iron Man. But those with intimate knowledge of the situation suggest a far more dramatic backstory: Howard was the first actor signed to the film and, on top of that, was the highest-paid. That's right: more than Gwyneth Paltrow. More than Jeff Bridges. More than Robert Downey Jr. And once the project fully came together, it was too late to renegotiate his deal. It didn't help that, according to one source, Favreau and his producers were ultimately unhappy with Howard's performance, and spent a lot of time cutting and reshooting his scenes. (Favreau could not be reached for comment, while Howard's publicist says: ''Terrence had a tremendous experience working on Iron Man.'')

As for Jim being captain america I can see it. Of course I wasn't sure when I heard Heath Ledger would be joker at first and look how wrong I turned out to be.

I think John K will do a great job, guy is a very polished actor. The fact that he's been successful doing a comedic role for the last 6 years is hardly a deterring factor to me.

Actually if he could act he'd be perfect.
Now, who the hell should play Thor. That is a difficult role to pull off.

If Randy could act, I think he'd actually be perfect for Captain America later in life. Not so much for an origin story, cause he's old as balls, but he'd be perfect if it was just a movie where we already know where Captain Ameica came from, kind of like Superman Returns.
