I admit I don't know a thing about Captain America, but when I do think about the character, the last actor I think of portraying him would be Krasinski. He is a freakin beanpole, he would have to gain like 80lbs to come close to the frame on Captain America. They might as well get that skinny kid from road trip to play Superman while they are at it.

I think that Captain America is actually a pretty boring guy. He's like Superman. He's too goody two shoes and everything about him is just about how inspirational and legendary and everything he is etc.

The only time the Captain America comic was any good in the past while was when he was killed in the Civil War and Bucky became Captain America instead...

Bucky being his silly kid sidekick (basically 1960s Batman TV show Robin) who was trying to disable a german V2 rocket flying over the Atlantic ocean which blew up and he ended up freezing in the water...and then being found by the Russians and brought back from the dead, brainwashed, given a bionic arm, and becoming an evil communist super soldier agent in the Cold War...before Captain America saved him in the 2000s and he remembered who he was again. Now that'd be a fun movie!

Glitz and glam FTW. Just saying, if you want Captain America to be a reflection of America's WASP identity, then you go with the first one. If want it to be a reflection of Castro street, you go with the second one.

Well if you look at the origins of Capt. America, he was a scrawny kid who the army wouldn't take, so he signed up for a program that made him into the ultimate man, by taking the super soldier serum.

So i don't mind the casting as long as Jim bulks up huge.

Well, I reckon they'll start with Krasinski and then by the end of the "program" he'll be transformed into... Kimbo Slice...

This might be the worst comic book casting since Topher Grace was cast as Venom in Spiderman3

When they cast Spiderman, I thought their choice of Tobey Maguire was odd. But it worked because they needed a Peter Parker, a lean idealistic college age kid. Putting in Topher Grace as Venom was for the same reason, they needed an Eddie Brock, but the problem was Eddie Brock was supposed to be bigger so I don't think it worked as well. I don't know the Captian America storyline at all, but I don't think he was supposed to be some young pencil-neck geek who's main acting job is mugging for the camera. What next? Jon Cera as Thor? Maybe Corey Feldman can kick start his career (was Corey Haim holding him back?) and give us an Oscar worthy of Aquaman. Andy Dyck as Wonder Woman?

I've taken a wait and see attitude with all these superhero movies casting. No matter who they cast there will always be complaints from fan boys. The only thing that matters is that the movie is good, and with Marvel running their own show I trust them making the right choices for actors. Krasinski is obviously not a money making choice, so there must be a reason behind it. People hated Ledger as the Joker, Keaton as Batman, MacGuire as Spiderman. Someone always invision someone else, especially in roles that are the heroes of people's childhood. Ill see the movie no matter who's cast, and then Ill judge it.

Chris Hemsworth (Kirk's Dad in Star Trek) is Thor

They aren't picking big name people for these roles, so there must be other reasons. Personally I like that they're staying away from big names so people can focus more on the characters.

Chris Pine (Kirk in the new Star Trek) would have made a good Captain America. His dad from the movie is playing Thor, which seems like good casting as well.

I hope Tony drinks a lot more and that the film is 85% Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

I'm still not happy with the recasting of Terrance Howard as Jim Rhodes into Don Cheadle. It doesn't seem right and recastings ruin movies for me, like Katie Holmes into Maggie Gylenhaal basically made Dark Knight unwatchable for me.

What?!? Why wouldn't they just re-cast Terrance Howard?? I liked him in that role, and I've always hated Don Cheadle. I know he's a good actor, but he just bugs me for whatever reason. Doesn't Jim Rhodes' character play a much more major role in Iron Man 2? Wow that's brutal news. I surprisingly loved Iron Man and am really pumped for the sequel, but that news has me a little less pumped now...

In this case, it's because Terrance was a d*** and wanted more money than they were willing to pay him IIRC.

I don't like Don Cheadle either, I don't know why. I've only ever liked him in Boogie Nights. Seeing him as War Machine in this movie doesn't really work.
