Wow, I didn't nominate Datsyuk because he only had 26 points and I figured Arnott had a way better month then him (33 points) but Koivu wins with only 21 points. I don't get that selection.

Player:

Jason Arnott: 15 GP 10 Goals, 23 Assists for 33pts + 22

vs

Mikko Koivu:
14GP 4 Goals 17 Assists for 21PTS +13

Yup, but I try to get everyone some cash out of the process.

Yeah confusing. Player of the month is player of the month.

I appreciate your hard work on this, but maybe everyone should only be allowed to nominate one person if you can't win multiple times.

Also. It is the always the same 5 or 6 people nominating players. we need more involvment.

With only few people nominating I'd rather the system Mike employs, reward all that make the effort. I usually post nominees, but the was too busy last few days and the fact Flyers have sucked for the past month didn't help me wana look up their stats.

I only nominate when I feel the deserve it. frankly most points this season nobody really stood out.. until recently when Staal really took off and Fluery had the great streak of 7 Shutouts....

I know what your saying and see I both sides of the coin. As the person who selects the winners, I wish there wasn't a financial reward at the end. That way I could just pick the best players and not worry about trying to spread the earnings around.

I wonder why you should need to worry about that. Best player wins. You have a good player you benefit from it.

that just me though... not sure why you need to spread it around. Has anyone complained because they didnt win and didnt get the financial benefit? Vs having the better stats?

Not that I know of but I don't remember a time when the money wasn't spread around.

If we are going to have so few GMs participating in this then we have to spread it around - otherwise GMs would pile up millions a year. Of course if the interest isn't there perhaps we should can the whole P.O.W. thing?

I just do not understand why you wouldn't nominate someone.. even for Crappiest player.

I have won 6 times this year. That is a significant amount of cap space.

Ya, I'm with Hesla here. I always put in a nomination for POW or POM, even if my guy isn't necessarily the favourite to win. If way more teams put in nominations then this situation likely wouldn't have happened. There is a decent amount of cap space available that can add up after a while, I don't know why teams don't.

I think this situation happened earlier when Duncan Keith theoretically should have won POM but didn't and it was because Mike wanted to reward all the GM's who at least put in the effort to go through with it. This does take some time so again I'm with Mike in wanting to reward GM's who did this (and not just because it benefited me...ha).

The one thing I would like to see in the future is have the Unsung Hero have an OVR limit that can win...for stacked teams my unsung hero could be a 65 OVR player and his chance of racking up points is much higher than a 62 OVR guy. So personally I'd like to see the Unsung Hero award get the teams who don't normally win more involved...just a suggestion.

I see the points made here.. I guess I was thinking why have someone go through 30 posts to see the nominies if i know none of mine really deserved it.

I can go through and put in my nomanies if that is preferable...

I think that's an incentive to participate though. You participate and you get rewarded. You don't and your rivals do. Eliminating it would be a big mistake IMO.

Yeah I think we should still keep the POW and I like how for the Player of the Month Mike rewards teams who do the work. I haven't been submitting as much because right now I am happy with my cap situation and also I haven't had as much time to go through every game of mine over a month and then submit nominations.

Maybe I'll be proactive this month and record some things early, I just wish it was easier to see how players did without having to go through each game individually (I know I'm lazy).

I like the POW, we should keep it. I would nominate Av's players more often if I didnt score 2 goals every 5 games.

^ Then you should be sweeping the crappiest team/player award every week!
