Chucko back from injury. Apparently he's been out since late December?

Heat lost 2-1 against the Worcester Sharks last night. It was a barn burner. Heavy defensive play.
Colin Stuart has been on fire the last couple of games.

I miss Pelech. I don't wanna say the Heat games are boring without him, but they certainly lack that BOOM CRUNCH POW OUCH that Pelech brought to the defence.

I've been meaning to ask you... what are the injurioes and how long are the injured guys out for anyways? It's Palin, Pelech, Negrin, Germyn, Armstrong correct?

Yes, there's five regular players in total like you said.
Pelech - pinched nerve in his shoulder (expected to be out for the rest of the season)
John Armstrong - currently rehabbing from a shoulder injury
Germyn and Palin - concussion
Negrin - Undisclosed upper body injury.
The two most devastating injuries of course are Pelech and Negrin's. Pelech because he's an shut down defensemen in every sense of the word and Negrin because of his puck moving and scoring ability from the point.
Fortunately, we acquired Delmore to replace Negrin's offensive abilities and Mark Mitera (as a rental from Anaheim) to replace Pelech's defensive abilities.
And Chucko just returned a couple of games ago. He was expected to return sooner, but they were on that 9 game road trip in which he didn't go. But he did return on the first home game.
And of course, Riley Armstrong is recovering from a strained groin, but is no longer with the team.

Cunning is sure playing well this year. Second in points on the team. Great job on PP and Penalty kill.

I was looking at some of the stats for the Heat and noticed the following roster move from yesterday (March 8, 2010):
HEAT MAKE ROSTER MOVES
Quote:
Goaltender Matt Keetley has been assigned to Victoria of the ECHL...
Forward Peter Vandermeer has been assigned to the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL...
|
Shantz stays with the Heat and Irving is back. I'm not sure what, if anything, all of this goaltender movement means. I guess it means that the Heat and the Flames have options.

Mitch Wahl is currently 5th in WHL scoring, and 3rd in assists
Howse is 4th in WHL goals
Brodie 5th in OHL defencemen scoring
some interesting middle round picks by the Flames

I am pretty damn excited for next season when Wahl, Brodie, and Nemisz (and possibly others) are with the Heat. Hopefully they can continue their offensive ways in the AHL.

I'll be honest: The Flames have a couple decent offensive prospects in the next few years.
Also, does Cunning have any chance of making the Flames in his career (Probably would be a 4th line grinder)? It sounds like he's getting pretty good.

Don't count on it. This year he is that odd statistical anomally. He isn't that great of a player.

Your probably right, but every time Dave Sheldon interviews Playfair and asks him about Cunning, Playfair's answer sounds somewhat like he's praising/worshipping a Godly being the way he talks about Cunning.

Oh, he does all the little things right. But he just isn't that great of a player. He is just having a good year (comparitively to what he normally has). Hard nosed player, but just doesn't have anything that sets him apart.
Career AHLer at best in my opinion.
