Good games last night, Stalker. It seems to get better when we have 2-4 people instead of 6, I find. I'll be on tonight again if anyone is interested.

Well 6 means there's a manual goalie so ya 2-4 is better. I prefer 5 though.

Depends who the goalie is. There are some pretty awesome goalies in the league, who I would take over a cpu goalie any day, especially because the good ones can shut down all the glitch goals. If you have a goalie like this, 6-man games are awesome.

yeah, chuckie is right, having a good goalie is key. thats one thing we never really thought about regarding the fatas was encouraging peopel to get good at goal. we would only use one when necessary. though this year since there was less activity overall, we have had less 6 person games anyways.
i personally don't like 2 players games as its really glorified versus mode. i much prefer having 4 or 5 real skaters. i am all about manual goalies, but as stated, since so many suck, they can often sway an otherwise fun and competitive game.
i personally believe that EA needs to totally nerf the AI goaltending in EASHL. currently there is no real benefit for most teams to have a manual goalie. the EASHL still caters to teams of 2 that both play forward. however, if the AI goalie is so bad he is going to give up 6 goals, then more teams will start developing goalies. i am sure everyone would freak out, but its best for long term development of the eashl. additionally, they need to work on ways to pick who you play. if you have 6 guys online, you should have the option to only look for other 6 man teams. i believe the algorithm that matches teams takes that into account, but as a team we should be able to select what size teams we want to play.
p.s. - chuckie, it was fun playing your team the other night. good battle.

Every time we have a manual goalie it seems to become breakaways galore...that's where the cpu can stop the puck. Although we do have a number of shutouts under our belt with a manual goalie so I don't know.

yeah, i think one of the big things with manual goalie is that it means we are playing 5 real skaters as well. that means no CPU covering for us. i think we end up playing worse defense a lot of times when we have a human back there. in theory we need to be more conservative till we do get more experienced goalies.
i keep trying to play community goal, but every time i feel like i have improved i go out there and give up like 5 goals.

Yea it was a good game. Maybe we can do it again sometime (if you don't mind playing a trap team)...
On the goalie topic, we often play 3 or 4 skaters and a goalie, because our goalies are better than the cpu. They basically play ONLY as goalie though...

One addition I would really like to see in the EASHL is the ability to pick different builds.
Pick your position, and then the build you want to go with it.
Frustrating being a Dman setup and being forced to play forward and being completely out of place in the game.

i agree flash. even for forwards, if you play center, you have a ton more attribute points on faceoffs that can be better distributed if you end up playing wing.
that also made me think of another big thing i hope they can add in. for community games, they need to make the position selection be part of the initial join screen. because too many times you get a 6 vs. 6 game, everyone gets to the position select screen and you got 3 guys all saying they want to be center and if they can't they are leaving. so then you end up a couple guys short all because several people wanted the same position. likewise, if someone wants to be manual goalie, lots of people won't play, so you get to position select, a person selects goalie and everyone else leaves! you can remove so much of that by allowing people to pick their positions in that first screen when people can come and go, and switch teams still.
