Sounds like you got a lemon. How old is the phone? From a net search, there are a number of people with the same complaint about the 2G phone.
Are you still under warrant?
FYI - I have had an iPhone since about 3 months after they were first unlocked. Never had a single dropped call and the only missed calls are because I always forget to turn the phone off vibrate before settling in for the evening.

My sony ericcson used to do that. It dropped a few calls, and sometimes people would call and it wouldn't ring, and then i'd get a text about the missed call.
I've had the iphone for about a month and I haven't experienced any of that yet luckily. Hopefully it's a phone problem and not a provider problem and maybe you can get it fixed under warranty? I'm with Fido.

I'll probably have to go back and talk to them then. THe phone is about 4 months old so it's not a 2G thing, it's just a pile of crap. I'll call Rogers today and see what they say, I'm sure it's still under warranty I just bought it.

Tell them you know other people with the same phone and they don't have the issues you're having.

1. I only remember having dropped calls in the first month or two when I got it (when it first came out), and I think that was a firmware issue since I've never had a dropped call since. Do the dropped calls seem to be anywhere, or are they maybe centered around your house or your area? You could try turning off 3G so it goes with Edge and see if that makes a difference.
2. Weird, nothing like that.. well except when I worked in a big metal building that acted as a Faraday cage until they installed a relay antenna.

So is anyone having problems on rogers staying on 3G? All I have been getting the last little while is edge. The other day it was just a dot which I think is GPRS? Any ideas? I havent called rogers yet.

I've been having this problem for a week or so as well. If you go into the settings and switch to airplane mode for a few seconds, and then switch back, you'll get 3g for a while. Eventually mine goes back to edge though.

Is there some way to create another category for emails on my iPhone? I currently have in-box, drafts, sent and trash and would like to add one called To Save or something similar for important stuff I want to save for future reference. Can I do this? How?

What e-mail are you using? Yahoo, G-mail, mobileme? ISP account?
In any case, I don't think it can be done ON the iPhone. If, for example, you were using Yahoo, you would have to go to yahoo.com (or .ca, or whatever) and create the folder. Then on the next refresh, it would appear on the iPhone.

Is there an easy way I can replace my iPhone card so I can use the phone in the States without big extra charges? Can I buy a card in the States for this and just pop it in?

Depends on the firmware. If you have 3.1.3 you are out of luck. If you have 3.1.2 or earlier, there is a guide for the Pwnage tool here:
http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak-...indows-anu759/
Word around the net is that many of the breakers are holding onto their hacks for 4.0. They know how to unlock 3.1.3, but won't because then Apple would know how to fix it before 4.0 is released.

Why doesn't Apple just employ some hackers to do it for them, and then fix it?

Sometimes my iPhone switches to edge right after a call, but it's usually in 3G.

If I'm off to the USA for a quick trip, how much would it cost me if I called FIDO and signed up for some sort of service down there? Just to be able to use my phone for the Google Maps mainly.

I think default rate is $0.006/kb if you already have one of their data plans, and you can add an addon for $10 that cuts that down to $1/MB.. still crazy expensive, but if you are only doing maps it shouldn't be too bad, cheaper than buying a GPS I guess.

A dollar per MB, that's ridiculous. I think I'm just going to have to rely on WiFi.

Yeah, it was ridiculous.... I was only there a week and I only used it for Google Maps and light web surfing and grabbing a few territories of "Own this World" in Vegas (which was pointless as Headshot took them back days later). $20 in usage fees above and beyond the $10 I put down to get on the $1/MB package. That's just crazy.
Yeah, so I used as much wifi as I possible could and still get charged $30. Canadian data prices are crazy.
