I like how the new trains will have more to hold onto that isn't freaking hanging from the ceiling of the train. When you're 5'1", life sucks when you're trying to stay standing on the train.

Motorists will notice a few changes starting tomorrow (March 1st):

- Bow Trail will be reduced to 2 lanes in the westbound direction

- 17th Avenue will be reduced to 2 lanes in both directions between 33rd and 40th Streets

- 29th Street will have its connection to Bow Trail permanently closed

- 38th and 39th Streets will have their connections to 17th Avenue permanantly closed

Man I'm excited to get this line going! I live about 2 blocks from where the Sunalta station is going to be, I'm hoping for some decent property value hikes. I don't think there's room there for a parking lot, it would be nice if I could have the benefit of the station without the negatives of the associated parking.

Anyone have any idea how property values in Sunalta might be affected?

I too live about a block and half from the future Sunalta station. I'm not sure what the effect will be on property value but I have decided to stay in my condo until it is done in hopes of major increase in sale prices.

I can see there are going to be a lot of traffic head aches as a result of the construction. Although it should be noted that my walk to downtown has also been effected (an extra whopping 3 minutes ).

The buildings in the immediate vicinity are all commercial, so I presume property value would go up due to proximity to transit. As well, I don't believe there should be much concern for issues like vagrants hanging out, mostly because the LRT pushed out the homeless shelter that was in Sunalta a few months back.

I practice my balance when on the train.

When I started, I couldn't make it from DT to Anderson with out touching any surface. Now, I can go anywhere with out touching. I even sometimes challenge punk-kids to a balancing match... Which I always win, haha.

Well... I think the benefit is when people look at my condo the first thing they think is 'This is too far to walk to work downtown'. Essentially you need to take the bus from that area. In reality you can easily walk to work downtown from Sunalta, but it's 30min each way and somewhat inconvenient. I could see how people wanting to live 'downtown' would not consider Sunalta because it's quite the hike to get in.

To add to this, being close to a train station means you have easier access to more than just downtown. This means you have quick access to McMahon Stadium, Chinook, Fish Creek Park, Max Bell arena, etc.

A certain population of this city is freaking out at the ~700m price tag for it. If it were ALL underground it would be well north of a billion.

Having said that, underground would be awesome. One just needs to look at the Vancouver Canada line to see how great it is...but that comes at a cost. That line was more than double the cost of this one. I believe it's longer in length however it's still a good measuring stick for the cost.

I'm happy my street (29th) is getting shut down. Should make it a much calmer road which will help alleviate some of the traffic noise. It'll be a painful time but well worth it in the end.
