And if he isnt Charlie Brown with his catching glove in the last minute, there is no need for OT or Iginla and Sid heroics.

After that loss to the US I thought we would go all the way. Brodeur letting in some terrible goals in that game is the reason they lost. After that they made the goalie change and dominated Germany and Russia after that and played well until the last 10 minutes of Slovakia where they sat back. Today Luongo didn't let in any bad goals (although I have no idea what Niedermayer was doing on the tying goal) and Crosby after being non-existent for a few games showed up when it matters. I love it!!
It's been a fun few weeks and I guess we can all cheer for the same team in another 4 years in Russia!

Because gloving down that puck with 45 seconds still remaining ended the game? All the Americans needed to do was win a clean face-off the result could very easily be the same thing.

Yeah, I agree, but I think that even if he did, the country's fetish for Crosby would still pour through their veins.
I personally don't get it, but whatever. Iggy did great this tournament.

The 2nd goal was Niedermayer. He was an absolute pylon on that play and let it be a 2 on 0 behind him. No idea why he was out there anyways. Your team's best dman on the bench in the last minute makes no sense. Weber, Doughty, Keith.........2 of those 3 needed to be on the ice.

So let's throw the puck right back out to them instead. Because they might win the face-off and possibly score anyway, so, hey, let's help 'em out a little.

And if the Canadians win that faceoff?
What's your point?

But winning in OT by Iggy and Crosby is so much better than running the clock down in the defensive zone.

Perfect ending.
I enjoyed it very much, especially the fact that Ryan Kesler and Patrick Kane are losers.
I'm a traitor...and that's ok.

Or if Canada had actually cleared the zone or if the defense didn't let 2 Americans get in behind them to get 2 cracks at the puck with 20 seconds left...
It's a team game and they won as a team. Trying to single out every mistake is pointless, as there were countless opportunities for Canada to increase their lead before that. What matters is that everyone came through in the end.

And let's let them control the play down low for 20 seconds, allow Kane to be open in the high slot for a quality scoring chance, and have 2 Americans behind Weber and Niedermayer waiting for a potential rebound.
And, like I said, Luongo gloves the puck down and there's still 45 seconds left. How is the game anywhere near decided at that point?

You honestly don't see why sending a big rebound directly out and back to the Americans is a worse option than forcing a face-off?

Anyone else think that USA is now the favorite in Sochi? They played so well together for being so young.
I mean, they'll lose players like Drury, Langenbrunner, Rafalski, mayve even Malone, but they are good in goal with Miller, have 2 more options in Quick and Anderson; they are going to be scary.
