It's on the Calgary Flames' website as well,

Love Regehr. He's always good for a line like this. And he's right, so Canada better win. I think a Canadian film about it would be so much better than anything the Americans could come up with....

Yeah, I remember when coolly discussing the 'Miracle on Ice' piece of propaganda here, I was told that anyone who dislikes that movie must hate America.

Regehr is right Disney studies is probably already considering this. Shut em down Canada.

Disney make this Movie how a Vetran took the abuse from Canada's coach. Lead by example. Took a young superstar that had the preasure of a nation to win GOLD under his wing. How a team highly criticized, galvanized and won it all the hard way.
When it all mattered it was Iggy to Sid for the OT winner just like what it supposed to be. This was destiny.
The Kid had all the hockey world watching and this was meant to happen. USA scores in the dying seconds to force in OT and break our hearts only to have Canada winning in the best way. Golden.

This, for Canada, is THE storybook ending.

I HATE living in the US...and nothing is worse for me than the overblown sensationalism that they shove in your face 24x7.
This is not really what I'm talking about but it pissed me off last night. Instead of being able to see the Bronze medal awarded to Kipper and the Finns, MSNBC switched to talking more about Apollo Ohno...his races were long over and the coverage that he's received is over the top...show the Bronze medal's being awarded and make a separate network to cover Ohno...National Ohno Corporation NOC.

Piece of propoganda...LMAO.
Yeah, there wasn't a story there at all.

Well if you like to hear USA, USA, USA over and over again, I guess it's right up your alley. It could have been a pretty good movie (not my cup of tea watching a rival win but hey), but seen in other countries it's just more over the top American jingoism, a turn off.
I'm sure you'd enjoy hearing hearing a Canada, Canada chant over and over again with Canada controlling the film industry and feeding their propaganda in film after film.
The American film industry isn't so in your face anymore, but during the 40s, 50s and 60s it was terrible and that movie was a blatant reminder of that.
I did see the original TV movie when it was out and the film version ( the little I saw of It) was no better.

I watched Kipper get a bronze medal on MSNBC, weird.
I agree on the Ohno thing though, christ the guy was ranked 9th in the world in the 500 and they acted like he should win by 4 laps.

I honestly think NBC mentioned Lake Placid every minute for the first 20 minutes of their broadcast. Awsome.

We have Direct TV and on our feed the only player they showed receiving a medal was Teemu Selanne...that was it. Then it was Ohno time yet again.

You know, there's an easy solution to that problem. There are plenty of things that I dislike about the US, but why live somewhere that you hate?
Edit: The closing ceremonies aren't televised because NBC has to showcase "The Marriage Ref," so I take it back. Feel free to hate living here.

As for your other point, you're right. Selane is the only guy that I saw get the bronze and I have Comcast cable.

Okay, so hate was probably too strong a word. I've been hearing it for over a week from co-workers, neighbors, and people who I didn't think knew that I am Canadian. Typical non-hockey fans saying the US beat us at the one sport we are supposed to be good at and lots of similar BS.
The bad part is people were texting me after the prelim round game, calling, tons of e-mail and all of them doing their best to rub it in.
After such a hugely successful Olympics for Canada, I'm guessing that none of these same folks will say anything good about Canada.
I would like to move back to Calgary and be physically closer to my family, but the timing is just not good.
Bottom line, I guess these Olympics have made me really homesick.

Obviously, the problem with it has more to do with your inability to see past the red, white and blue theme than it does with any distortion of the truth or hyperbole.
It's a great story. Better if you're American, sure, but still great. I thought the insight into the mind of Herb Brooks was the best aspect of the film and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I rooted for Canada today. I'm American. I guess I'm a different bird so maybe I am the only person that sees your labeling of the film as propoganda as a reflection on you more than the movie.
