Non cola products have no caffeine in them so drinks like Mountain Dew don't have the same effect.

And a couple from my favourite "An American's Guide to Canada" http://americansguide.ca/isms.html (everyone should make a pass through that site, it's quite well done.)

Goodie rings. I always get asked to bring them to family when heading south.
Also Gibson's Finest whicky. Yes I said whicky, instead of whisky.

Does Dr. Pepper count as cola then? Cause I've been keeping my head off my desk with those for the last 2 weeks.

We've got those, at least at candy stores that sell imported British things. Same goes for smarties, aero etc.

This is the biggest thing I miss. Oh you can find rotissere chicken here, and you can make the chalet sauce from the powder packets your mom sends down, but you cannot experience the joy of devouring a half chicken and fries covered in chalet sauce that was delivered to your door so your hungover self didn't have to move.

Actual good beer wth alcohol in it.

And if you were offended by that, lighten up.. with a nice Coors or Bud Light!

When i was a kid, the Husky by my house had a slurpee machine that injected air making it light and fluffy. Sounds like the American slurpee.

Here's the trick. Fill it only 25% at a time then bang the bottom hard either with your hand or on a counter. It gets all the air out.

It was never perfect but much more like the classic sugar bomb we all know and love.

You cannot find anything remotely approximating our version of a donair anywhere in the US. Gyros are not the same.

Bloody caesars, as has been mentioned.

(East) Indian food is much thinner in the ground in the US, even in most urban areas. They usually call butter chicken "chicken makhani" and it's not on every menu.

It's much, much, much easier to get a shawarma here. Same applies to Middle Eastern food in general here; outside of obvious exception like Dearborn Michigan, Middle Eastern is a special night out sort of thing. Table service and entertainment, much higher prices, etc.

Banh mi are way more routinized and "normal" here; you don't have to go to the Vietnamese part of town (if one exists) to find a good banh mi here.

Even in cities with a relatively small West Indian population like Calgary, it is much, much easier to find things like jerk or brown stew chicken or roti in Canadian cities. Chicago is a metro of nearly 10 million and it has not one single Trinidadian place. "Caribbean" is either Spanish Caribbean (Puerto Rican or Cuban), or it's watered-down Key West crap. Conch fritters, that sort of thing.

Oh- shreddies and weetabix.

Untrue... While Alberta beef is very very good, Down here in the south (Oklahoma and Texas) beef is taken just as serious. Its pretty damn good. I cant say which is better but since I dont get to eat it all the time I am now craving some Alberta beef.

I wish I could remember the jerky that my mother in law brings me from Calgary. She has to go out to the guys lil store/ranch and buy it. I believe its out east of town and it recently caught on fire. Its one of the best jerkys I have ever had!

Not true on some accounts.

Dill pickle chips are available, Big Turk can be found but is becoming rare. A & W's if you can find one, have teen burgers...they still exist here.

That was true, but they recently made it a permanent menu item. Thankfully!

Taco Bell pales in comparison to Del Taco though. I can't wait for the day that franchise finds its way closer than 500 miles from my house.

the funny thing about Ginger Beef is that half of Canada doesn't have it either.... if they do then it's a chefs specialty.
