Women's Hockey Team for dominating the tournament and then turning it up a notch against their worthy opponent in the US...harder to do than they get credit for.

Also, for Hayley 3 straight Gold Medals in Hockey...great achievement.

1. Clara Hughes - amazing performance, an amazing woman
2. Mens Curling - Made it look far too easy
3. Jon Montgomery - the definition of the Olympic spirit

Honourable Mention - Jenn Heil, her confidence to carry the country at the start and her faith in her fellow athetes that we would succeed

I'm not in the Joannie Rochette camp though when we're talking about medals though

I know the thing that disappointed me most was the legally blind guy (sorry I don't remember his name) who was knocked into 4th place on the ski team so he won't compete, but he thinks they should have put him in just because of his disability. That kind of gave me a smarmy feeling. Why should you be placed ahead of another person because of that? Maybe the person who is skiing has a story just as compelling, not a disability but something else they overcame? It's smarmy, not quite honorable. Sympathy is not a good reason to decide who deserves to compete.

1. Rochette
2. Martin
3. Anderson

I am a big curling fan, I am so glad Martin was able to get that medal. We have the world's best curlers in Alberta. Martin, Morris and Ferbey have entertained me for years. The fact that Calgary's Bernard upset Kleibrink is a heavy indicator of the quality of Alberta curling.

really? To me this is by far the one i could give a about the least. We're talking about a sport where only 2 teams are even in contention and probably the least comptetive sport in the winter olympics.

Are you kidding?

Canada winning gold in Women's hockey is like Arnold Schwarzenegger beating up on an 8 year old burn victim.

That's the beauty of the question though. There is no wrong answer. Everyone will have different answers. Some events mean more to some then others because they follow the sport more, personal reasons, etc. Maybe that poster is a big fan/follower of womens hockey. If that was the case then I can see that being the most that meant to him/her.

1a) Bilodeau - I NBA bench reacted immediately. I was so happy I was just jumping around fist pumping and yelling. A moment I will never forget.
1b) Joannie Rochette - To do what she did with all that happened is simply incredible and inspirational.
3) Kevin Martin and crew - Undefeated, enough said.

Of course my list will have a new solidified number one in approximately 12 hours.

Probably Christine Nesbitt's, although Jon Montgomery's was a close second.

Great thread.

So many great stories and its fun to read everyone's reasons for their favourites.

1. Bilodeau - what a great kid and what a fantastic story... you couldn't write it better than what happened. His win was the spark that ignited the buzz for the games for me.

2. Montgomery - pure joy. Such a great reaction and I know you all can taste that beer the same way I can when you watch that clip.

3. This space reserved.

Anderson, for making me realize that there was a whole lot more substance to "Hot Dog - the Movie" than I thought...

This one replaces Montgomery's for me.

1) Rochette (Bronze) - Considering all that had happened, it's quite amazing.
2) Men's Hockey (Gold) - One of the most memorable games ever, capped up by Crosby in OT.
3) Clara Hughes (Bronze) - One final medal to the best Canadian Olympic athelete
