Yeah I read about the DLC. Make sense after about all the set up in Forli for what was really nothing more than codex pages and a seal. Not sure have I feel about a console AC 2.5. Makes me wonder if Ubisoft will take their time with AC so its release is say, around December 2012.

Fun game but the ending was a bit disappointing. Hopefully AC3 is better.

You didn't like the ending? I thought it was pretty interesting.

So for those of us waiting for a PC port of this, looks like it is REALLY protected:

You'll have to have a constantly on Internet connection to play. No Internet, no game. Eidos' servers go down, no game. Buy it and in 3 years you reload it to play it, but Eidos has take down their authentication servers, no game.
I am going to intentionally go out of my way to pirate this game.

Wow. Even Apple doesn't do that. Then again, I'm supposed to get into video editing instead of playing games on my MacBook.

13 is A LOT better than 12, and a lot longer too.

How long is 13? I've heard way too many bad things about the length of 12, but from what I can gather 13 is much better.
I'm trading in Assassin's Creed 2 for MLB The Show (which, for anyone interested in The Show, trade-in value for a pre-order is 50% higher than normal at EB Games) tomorrow or Monday so I'm just wondering if it's worth it to DL and beat 13 before I get rid of it.

In 13 you have to eliminate 9 generals (or something), and each one takes about 10-15 minutes. I haven't completed it yet, but I am sure there will be another assassination mission after you eliminate all the 9 guys.

HAHA - these systems are a joke. What are they actually doing? They don't prevent pirates downloading a hacked version so they only annoy their paying customers. HAHA - the logic is ludicrous.

Is the PC version any different from the console version?
Is the delay coming for Assassin's creed 2 coming to PC mainly the porting and DRM issue?
Finishing the game up myself on Xbox360, it's a really good game. Shame that Ubisoft is making it so difficult for PC players

it does literally make zero sense. they put so much effort into these DRM schemes that are ripped out in minutes by pirates when the game is released, so all they're doing is wasting money developing these systems and annoying their paying customer base when they inevitably screw up. how can they not see this? they're actually encouraging people to pirate these games to avoid all the hassles

The disruptions are being blamed on hackers
Quote:
Gamers playing Assassin's Creed 2 on their computers were locked out this weekend after hackers shut down servers required for the game to work.
Ubisoft, the game's publisher, on Monday confirmed it had been targeted by hackers waging a denial-of-service attack, which rendered Assassin's Creed 2 and lesser-known title Silent Hunter 5 unplayable over the weekend.
"Our servers didn't go down but five per cent of the overall people attempting to connect received denial of service errors," the company told website Ars Technica. "This is, of course, unacceptable and our teams are working around the clock to ensure it doesn't happen again."
Gamers swamped Ubisoft's online forums to complain about the outage, which they said was the result of a controversial move by the company to make certain games unplayable without an internet connection. Assassin's Creed 2, the company's latest smash hit, must be connected to the internet at all times in order to be played on a PC.

Echoing the comments, I blame it on the evil Templars

Hypothetically speaking, would this apply if I were to buy a copy of this on Steam? It looks like a great game, but I'm not going to go out of my way and buy it if I have to deal with all the red tape.

Yeah, Steam has their basic copy protection (i.e. you buy and download through Steam) but game companies can add on their own stuff, and this one has that afaik.

Just finished AC, can't wait to pick up AC2 after work. I heard that AC2 is way better, but I just love the time period and setting in the original so I had to tackle it first. Really really cool game, but as people have said, it got really repetitive. Also, the graphics were still great but obviously not anything amazing, considering I'm looking at it through a 2010 lense. Is the 2nd one as repetitive? I'm assuming the graphics are much better, seeing as its 3 years later. Can't wait to see how it looks.
I still can't believe I had no idea what AC was about until I was at a housewarming party last week(and I bought the next day), I even wrote a college paper about the Hashshashin(Assassins) a couple years back without knowing this game even existed. I feel shame.

basically everything that was wrong with the first game, they fixed for the second. once you start playing AC2, there's no way you'll be able to go back and play the first again
