Not to mention it will have rocks and debris in the wave picked up from the ocean floor. Not something you want to be in at all.

And Hilo Bay has started to drain again.

Water is really moving in this feed...

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/Global/...nav=menu55_1_1

Was going towards the left side... now switched to the right and going faster. Not sure if it's tidal or whatever.

edit: slowed down again.

edit again: and now the flow has reversed back

Some strange changes in the tide, that's for sure. Sucking out fast, then coming back in, then going out fast again.

The best science and technology in the world still can only guess at what time and how big the tsunami is. They predicted an hour ago.

Just goes to show how much more powerful creation is than science, andhow far we stil have to go as a society in terms of technology.

Although granted the technology is light-years better than it was 40 years ago when tsunamis hit without warning and killed tons of people.

Scientist just mentioned on CNN damage reported in Ventura, California although I live across the beach and haven't seen anything threatening - though Ventura beach is on a different angle

40m must be a little hyperbole.

There's a lot more factors than just "how powerful creation is".. If we could have a lot more information about them we'd have better models, but since since no one knows in advance where and when they'll happen, that's very difficult.. unless you spend 100's of billions of dollars to blanket the earth with sensors to gather data.

Limited by computing power and time as well, the more accurate a model is the more complex it is and more computing power it would require. They may have better models for more accurate predictions, but if it takes 3 days on a super computer to compute, that's not very useful

A better model would require topography of every square inch of the ocean bottom (again costly).

A lot of the limitations aren't limitations in science per say, more limitations in resources.

Its a south facing beach, right?

We did get a pretty good storm cell about an hour ago, so I wonder how they can determine stormy waters from tsunami waters.
