Having season tickets means SFA when it comes to being a troll or not.

Full credit to the Slovaks for not giving up and playing a pretty sound game throughout. Sure, trapping, but also more then able and willing to be able to push back and inches from tying it up..and was deserved if they did.

Fire drill that last few minutes. Weber and Keith on there for much of that.

Bergeron on to take draws...he lost both, one ended in the net, another very close. 3 minutes of ice time and that was too much.

Iginla had some chances..him and Crosby look good even if stats don't reflect it.

Seabrook shooting on his own net in the first?

Morrrow with a cheap cheap knee to draw that penalty...that goes the other way and McGuire would've had his head explode.

Not happy with how Canada seemed to sit back in the 3rd. This game should not have needed that save which I originally thought Demitra choked on.

Luongo had no work for most of the game which is probably why he gave up the softie but he will have to be perfect on Sunday.

Canada will come out with fire and take it to the US and get their revenge.

For Canada to win on Sunday Luongo doesn't even need to be perfect. If he has an average game and Miller has a godly performance, we should still win.

That 1st goal was bloody awful, but other than that I thought Luongo played fairly well. He's a guy who thrives on lots of shots, so it's not surprising he wasn't at his sharpest after only facing 9 shots through 2 periods. While that goal was basically inexcusable, he did atone for it at the end. He'll need to be sharper against the US, and I think he probably will be. The team seemed to let up once they went up 3-0 and that was evident in the goal and the poor team defense in the latter part of the 3rd.

Also, I thought despite not showing up much on the scoresheet, Iginla has looked fantastic at both ends of the rink the last couple of games. Several times tonight I noticed him breaking up dangerous Slovakian chances through good defensive awareness and positioning. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time in the defensive zone which led to a good transition game.

We have to use the GTD to discuss PGT information? I am sorry everyone I didn't make a PGT, I had to work.

CP NEEDS me.

On the difference between Luongo and Miller.

Miller needs to steal the game.

Luongo just needs to not lose the game.

Crosby has been nearly awful the last two games; he is the one holding that line back.

Agree completely. I was expecting so much more from him, and in fact he hasn't even been average the last 2 games, especially defensively where he has been awful at times in this tourney.

If this is as good as he gets on the biggest stage of international competition, Canada has some work to do moving forward. That being said, the single biggest stage is set for him to do something special, and i believe he can deliver, but he has to be a difference maker which he quite simply has not been.

Go Sid! Go Canada!!

SO if Luongo lets in 1 and miller posts a godly shutout ... you would still win?

Not sure how anyone can say the Slovaks played a sound game. They played an eight minute game and were brutal for the first 52 minutes. Nine shots through 2+ periods and few decent chances and next to no offensive pressure. Outside of that end of the game fire drill where Team Canada were collectively crapping their knickers, I thought they were poor. Stacking 5 across the blueline for 50 minutes might be a somewhat effective way of keeping your opponents from getting their chances, but they created almost nothing in terms of offense for the vast majority of the game.

I think the biggest question is how did Team Canada fail (almost to a man) to deal with Slovakia at the end of the game. Might have been the worst 8 minutes of International hockey I have seen in many a year.

I agree. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. Iginla and Staal have been all right on that line, but that trio better convert some chances into a goal on Sunday or we are in trouble.

Well, I keep an eye on Iginla and he follows into that zone and settles in the slot looking for the one timer. Crosby's gotten puck possesion and is looking for Iginla in that spot.

Most of the passes haven't gotten through (or Crosby's pass to Staal which was inches from a tap in goal last night), but some have and Iginla's got some rocket shots off that haven't gone in.

But I don't think its fair to say Crosby's held them back...that line has had numerous chances the past few games, and as importantly, haven't been part of any fire drills in their own end like other lines have been.

The real difference?

Miller has been lights out during the Olympics. Luongo hasn't.

Who would you pick to play better?

Maybe, but Crosby trying to do everything himself in the 1st period last night sure didn't help his case any.

He needs to try to utilize his linemates more instead of trying to split the defense and score himself.

Either I'm blind or you are. That line hasn't put up a whole lot of numbers in the last couple of games but they have been producing plenty of chances with the majority of them being set up by #87. He's the most noticable player on the ice every time he is out there.

I agree.

Crosby has been a ghost compared to the player we know he can be. Awful may have been a poor choice of words as even him playing awful is still as good as some other players but he has NOT been his usual "superstar" self and it has shown.

I think you missed the point. If both teams play to their potential Miller will need to be absolutely amazing for the Americans to pull out a win, whereas Luongo would just need to play solid. That first 'if' is obviously a big one, but Miller is going to have to carry his team a lot more than Luongo will.
