I think you're discounting just how good Midget AAA players are, by simply dismissing them as "children". They're not children at all, unless you consider 15 - 17 year olds to be children.

No, I'm not. I am sure they are good players. But if they have the ability to beat supposed elite Olympic champions, where does that leave that supposed Olympic sport?
You think Clara Hughes is going to be beaten by an age group like that?

I have to go down the middle of the road here like a few other posters. The celebration probably was a little over the top in the arena, and doesn't reflect well, but the IOC is probably making a mountain out of a molehill. Course, that is part of their job.
Did not know the story about Montgomery. If that is true he also should have been more choosy about the area for his celebration.

Again, you're discounting how good these guys are. They're women, they won't be as goos as men, but these men are really good hockey players.

No, not some of the Olympic team players are 18. One is.

It just isn't the same with hockey. You could piece a team together of beer league players who post on this forum and that team would route the women's national team.

This might be the stupidest thing I've ever read on this forum.

How many average people do you know who play hockey?
How many average people do you know that speed skate?
It's not a good comparison.

I don't know anyone that speed skates, but there are plenty of them out there, and do you think speed skaters in that age group can beat someone like Clara Hughes, an elite athlete? Really, the only reason she's so elite is because there aren't as many people out there doing it?
It's a fine comparison. If anything, you would think with the greater pool of talent for TC to pull from the women's team would be of a much higher skill level.

Taking a quick look at the Canadian Junior Speed skating championships Results from less than a month ago, 6 of the junior boys recorded a time faster than that.

Once again, I don't know why you continue to bring this up?
You guessing that a 17 year old male speed skater can't beat a 37 year old female speed skater has very little bearing on this conversation.
What if you are wrong? What if a 17 year old male speed skater can best clara hughes' time? Should speed skating be a male only sport?

The Junior guys that went one, two, and three in the 5000m were all faster than Clara Hughes personal best time of 6.53.53

No offense, but could you tell me the pages you're getting that from? I don't feel like rooting through 70+ pages of times, but from a cursory overview, I see a bunch of SENIOR men beating her time. Men that are the same age as her and even older. The S means senior, not junior.

Kerr and Francis just had quite an argument over this on the fan. Pretty entertaining. Francis thinks it was embarrassing and they shouldn't have done it. Kerr had no problem whatsoever with how they celebrated, and doesn't think it's a big deal. I gotta say, I'm with Kerr on this one. Who gives a crap?

That was all sorts of awesome. The IOC must have themselves confused with PGA officials. Congrats to your girls, they have reason to celebrate.

Same here. If someone like Francis is "physically embarrassed" by the Canadian Girls actions (his actual quote on that) that just speaks to me of the kind of uptight twit he is.
The ladies thought everyone had left, and went out on the ice (they probably shouldn't have been on the ice...) and had a few beers and a few smokes. Big...freaking...deal.

This whole incident has been rather illuminating to me in that it supports my view that society has become too anal retentive and politically correct. And way too pre-occupied with inconsequential drivel.
