So it must be implied that you can't celebrate and feel good without alcohol and tobacco?

Yep, we've been over this already. So their Olympic Gold is not an achievement because 15-year old boys are better than women at hockey. Got it.

Why are we comparing women's hockey to men's hockey?
We enjoy women's tennis and don't compare it to the men's game. And Yes a 15 year old boy would beat Serena Williams.
But I do agree with some of you that even looking strictly at the women's game, the quality is quite low. I don't think they're any better now than the gold medal final we all watched in 2002.

I didn't say men, I said 15 year old boys.
Women compete in other sports. Snowboarding, skiing, luge, etc., and you can tell it's taking real skill, and there's no way in hell I could do what they do without a lifetime of hard practice.
This women's ice hockey team isn't in the same stratosphere as the other other women's teams in other events in the Olympics. I am fully confident I could go out there and dominant the game, and that's just sad.

What the hell would Bobby Clarke know about talking at a high level? The guy's a buffoon.

Why don't you stop calling people names and actually answer the question - why is the hockey so bad? Women should be able to play as well as men, albeit at lower speed.

So, I am genuinely wondering why women's hockey is just so lacking in team play, "skill" - these ladies play full-time, together for years, so why is there no "hockey sense"? Is it is the coaching?

Look at women's luge/bob/snowboard times verses the men. Not just as good as you state. There is a reason there are mens/womens events. You might want to look into some basic biology if you need further clarification.

A 3 time league MVP and hockey hall of famer?
I would wager a guess you think you probably know more? I'll contact the Globe so they can get your take on the situation ok?

Other women's events aren't nearly the same. You can't say the same thing for women's skiing, for example. But you can for hockey. Why is that? And why is it bad to question it?

I think probably just because it's still a relatively new sport. Not a lot of girls play hockey (even moreso when these women were young players), so the quality of competition is lower, the pool of quality players is smaller, the quality of coaching is probably lower. There are a bunch of factors that stem from the sport being new/not wildly popular.
I'm no expert by any means, but that would be my assumption.

And he was named MVP and to the HOF for his skills at talking? Athletic ability doesn't necessarily mean that someone is intelligent. And defending Allen Eagleson is evidence that someone's pretty stupid.

I don't know for sure that a high-level 16 year old male couldn't beat a female Olympic skier. How do you know that?

Hmmm, perhaps it is easier to defend said lower speed resulting in less time and space.
If you watch Midget hockey you will see similar speed/style of play. We should deride midget hockey while we are at it too. Frack that Macs Tourney has got to go, just brutal hockey!!
