If somebody slipped and fell on my sidewalk, I would tell them to sue me as well. Thtat's why I pay good money for insurance. I'm also pretty sure on my homeowner's insurance there is even a part called "voluntary payments" (or something like that) which would cover this exact thing.

FF should have no reason to be out of pocket for this.

You can alert by-law to such negligent home owners. I believe they warn a home owner the first time, but if they have to come back a second, the city will clean the sidewalk and leave a $500 bill for the home owner.

A) Get well soon! I hope that the healing is as quick and painless as possible!

B) The voluntary property damage is not for this type of thing actually. Instead the voluntary property damage is for things where you are not negligent in any way, but just kind of should pay for damages because you want to be a good neighbour. For example a situation where the wind blows a basketball net you own onto your neighbours vehicle. Its not your fault...but you kind of should pay (or at least might want to in order to be a good neighbour).

The sidewalk not being shoveled though is a liability claim pure and simple. You have to keep your sidewalk clear as the property owner and have a duty of care to do so.
