The only thing we really have to worry about with the slovaks is the power play.

If we stay disciplined we should win. Chara hasnt looked good all year IMO. He seems to have lost that barbarian fire that made him so feared - or the money has got to him - either way he doesnt concern me in the least.

Down go the Redwings & the Sedins, lol
Bring on the Slovaks. Goborak, Hossa, Chara are Canada's main targets now.

Man the Russian media is horrible. Here are some questions asked of Nabokov:
"Which goals do you blame yourself on?"
"Did you want the coach to pull you?"
"Were you surprised that Bykov put you out in the second period?"

This really has no bearing on anything but the Nash goal reminded me of Iginla's first goal in Game 7 against the Canucks in 04.

The best play was not even a goal - the five-way pass play nearly finished-off by Nash would have been one of the most spectacular goals ever.

Thinking back to last night I didn't really think Iggy stood out, I thought he played well, but didn't stand out.

I just watched the replays, and I changed my mind. He played extremely well, he broke up many transitional plays in all three zones, his board work was excellent, and he probably had 3 good scoring chances, not to mention an assist.

From Pravda, a Russian News Paper:

The Red Machine Runs into a Maple Tree

It was the middle of the night in Moscow when Russia's ice-hockey players were swept off the ice by a rampant Canada at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

http://english.pravda.ru/photo/repor...russia-5152/3/
...as reports came in that many Russian fans who had planned to stay at the Games until the February 28 closing ceremony were leaving the host city in disgust.

The Coach seems to be a bit defensive
http://english.pravda.ru/photo/repor...russia-5152/6/

But Russia's coach Vyacheslav Bykov....there," he said, as quoted by the Sovetski Sport paper. "You've already had a go at the footballers. The guys prepared seriously for the game." "Let's get the guillotine or the gallows out, yeah?" he went on. "We have 35 people in the squad, let's cut them all up on Red Square..."

I thought the Iggy/Crosby/Staal line basically became the grind line last night, working the boards down low and wearing the Russians out in their own zone while Getzlaf and Perry stepped up into the scoring role. I think it's tremendous that we can role four lines now who are all capable of doing the role-playing shifts (check, cycle, hit) and then transition to scoring. We're looking very dangerous now and are going to be tought to shut down if the lines keep rolling like that.

Now there's something I'd pay to see.

The most important moments in that game might be the one's we won't remember . . . . . . Canada running it up to 3-0 but Luongo stopping a few tougher chances as it was happening.

In other words, Luongo making the right saves at the right time.

At 3-0, it was already mostly over and the Russians played the rest of the game like they knew it.

Or if you ask Melbridgeman, Canada won in spite of Luongo's unclutch goaltending.

You also only scored 3 on USA and don't give me that Miller crap, because with a good goalie tonight you don't score 3 of those goals.

Canada is the team to beat and always will be but I do get a little tired of the homerism. One minute there is panic mode after a few games and next minute the team is godlike. Its a one game tournament Canada needs to bring tonights game every game. The russians definately didn't play there A game tonight.
That right there tells me how little you were actually paying attention to the games.. that is if you were watching at all.

Russia was far worse defensively than the Swiss in this tournament.. don't kid yourself.

Oh i see so if Luongo was clutch, than what would you call Miller vs Canada, too me that is clutch....I guess the standard of greatness of Luongo has always been much lower. He was good and that is all he had to be.

I don't think anyone is saying that he was clutch in that game, but you made a post earlier in this thread that seemed to imply that Canada won despite Luongo, which is not true. He was solid but not spectacular, which is all this team should need to win gold.

My bad. Given how obsessed you are with Luongo, I assumed that's who you were talking about.
