That first period of hockey was some of the most dominating hockey I have ever witnessed. The passing, the board play, the finish, everything was at such a high level of skill.

I could watch the Nash goal over and over and over.

Agreed, especially the first 15 minutes was the best hockey any team has played in...a long time

Canada did dominate the game (Kovalchuk a no show again) but if I had to pick 3 forwards who didn't do much at all, I'd have to go with Crosby, Thornton, and Iginla...

Must of watched a different game than me. In the game I watched Iginla rang one off the post, tied up two Russians and assisted on a goal, and was a physical force. Don't forget, he's not there to score goals.

Hardly. They didn't score goals, but they did a lot. EVERY player did a lot this game. Iginla had a very strong game, IMO. Broke up a lot of plays, had a lot of chances, hit the post, assisted on the Weber goal after dominating the boards, etc.

Really? Didn't really have you grouped with the guys who only look at the score sheet. Oh well.

C'mon of course I watched the game. I expected more from Iginla and Crosby (don't care for Thornton either way). If Ovechkin and Kovalchuk deserve criticism, so do these two. Canada was in higher gear when Getzlaf and Toews's lines were on the ice.

I thought everybody but Pronger showed up and played their hearts out.

When this team is on, nothing can stop them.

Inspired win. Apparently, first Olympic win for TC against the Russians since 1960?

Luongo didn't flop around because he's not playing for the Canucks. Amazingly, Kesler also seems to be able to stand up and skate for Team USA.

I think everyone showed up tonight.

Iginla's line may have been overshawdowed by the Getzlaf and Toews lines, but that doesn't mean they didn't play well. Iggy performed very well, I thought he played his best overall game of the tournament, considering the competition and the stakes involved.

Yes the Getzlaf and Toews lines were dominant and shut down their opposion lines, but let's not take away anything from the balance of the team. Their contribution was important too!!

Great game by the Canadians. Absolute domination everywhere. The Ruskies defense was pathetic. If you have Garbegkov on your team, you know you have a crap defense. Still, I expected more from those Ruskies, but it seemed like from the drop of the puck the Ruskies were not interested in playing. Lots of individual play, about 3 too-many-men penalties, weak back checking... very surprised they didn't at least put up some fight.

Offensively, Canada was allowed to do anything they wanted - and boy did they look good doing it. Defensively, we dominated them and didn't really allow any quality scoring chances. Loungo was fine, but not spectacular. If this comes down to goaltending, Canada likely doesn't win.

Luckily for them, the way our forwards and defense played (and hopefully will continue to play for two more games) it won't matter who is in net for Canada. Luongo was fine, and will continue to be fine as we rack up the goals at the other end of the ice.

They also have to play Milan Jurcina 20 minutes a game. He's an adventure.
