My iPhone in the TELUS network is working just fine. No service interruptions at all.

If the iPhone network would be down the whole HSPA network would be down.

Yeah, the iPhone is not like the Blackberry and it's "special" network.

Not sure how iPhone would be different than BlackBerry. But a year or two ago I had zero service, talk or data. It ended up that you can get bumped off the network somehow. They just called a special number from my phone and I was good to go. Maybe the new HSPA network is different.

Hey Gimp - here's dumb question, but have you turned your iPhone off then on again? I'm on Rogers and this has happened to me a couple of times over the past 1.5 years I've had it. A simple reboot fixed it for me.

yep a quick power and home key hold down will do the trick most of the time.

Blackberrys run off their own network for data. So no matter if you have a BB through Telus or Bell or Rogers or any other carrier, if the BB network in Ontario goes down they all go down, (for data).

Blackberrys don't have their own network.

They still hit the EVDO or HSPA Telus, Rogers or Bell networks.

They just do the email through those networks differently or something.

I have an iPhone and I have to admit, although the new network is fast, it seems to "drop" out a lot.

Blackberry Internet Services (BIS), which handles blackberry mail, does but all other services run off your provider like normal.

I disagree.

When the Blackberry service goes down - all data is down, not just email.

My iPhone used to drop calls and lose the network all the time when I first got it- a reboot would usually help, but then after one of the software updates it's been great.

Give Telus and apple some time, maybe there is some problem that will be fixed the next time you plug into the computer? In the meantime, always re-boot!
