Fellow CP'er down
Late yesterday our fellow CP'er FireFly took a nasty spill on an uncleared sidewalk  and broke her leg.
A bypasser (who heard the crack) called the ambulance for her. It is a very bad break of both bones in her lower leg (tibia, I believe).
Early this morning she underwent surgery and now has a rod inserted in her bone and a few screws to keep it in place.
She seems in okay spirits, but very bummed about not being able to have a TV in her room to watch tonights hockey game.

Breaking a leg sucks. Also rod and screw surgery leaves an ugly scar that's pretty well permanent. hmm.. stitches or staples?

Stitches, I'm guessing. They assured her it was just a small incision at the knee and ankle. But man there was a lot of blood (IMO)

I was thinking that too, but I don't have wireless on my laptop and not sure if the hospital would even have a signal.

I wiped out on the sidewalk about 3 weeks ago and I still cannot walk properly. I hope she feels better soon.
As for the game, get her an iPhone.

They have her in what they call the "day surgery" section, even though she will be there until at least Friday. 
Apparently that ward is no longer allowed to have TV's.

Sent the poor girl a PM, If I had a laptop to send her I would, but I don't know if they have much in the way of accessable wireless internet.
At the worst maybe sneak her in a radio so she can listen to Peter calling the game.

That sucks, FF! I'd be raging mad at the guy that didn't clear the walk. Unless it's one of those walks that gets screwed by the melting snow and he really cant do anything about it.
How long does an injury like this take to heal?

If I was in Calgary I would lend her my laptop and wireless aircard....but of course I'm stuck on this silly rock.
I hope she feels better and some how finds the game. I've never broken a bone *knocks on wood* but could only imagine the pain considering how much pain I was in with some torn ligaments.
