Out of curiousity... what's the cheapest anyone's ever seen for Calgary - Rome? The cheapest I can find for mid-May/early June timeframe is $1275 pp including taxes.

What is the best deal to go somewhere on the cheap during this time frame?

Not cmyden but here's what I found...
If you're willing to fly into Edmonton, you can get a bit of a deal. $148 all taxes included for that leg on Delta Airlines.
Cheapest flight to Calgary is $274 JFK to YYC US Airways.
On the way back, a bunch of flights are around $400 from Calgary to Newark on Continental but they do go through Seattle (early evening departures) and don't get in until 6am. Latest you can leave but get back the same day is 1:25pm for $393.
Calgary to JFK departing 7:00 pm on April 5 is $337.

Hey cmyden! I'm looking to book a trip some time in May (probably mid-May) somewhere down south (ie Mexico, but not fussy). Is there a site that shows the cheapest rates for a 4 star resort within a certain date range, instead of 1 specific date?

Back from the Olympics!
Calgary to Bermuda - $480
Delta has flights to BDA in March and April for $480 after taxes. March 9-16 for example.
Calgary to Portugal - $804
TAP Portugal has flights to Lisbon (LIS) for this price in March. Slightly more in April.
Seems to be a codeshare with Air Canada.
Calgary to Varadero (All Inclusive) - $750/person after taxes
March 13-22
Can see it here: http://tinyurl.com/ygsm4sa
Gets fairly decent reviews. Solid 3.5 star level I would say.
Air Canada - 15% off flights within Canada

Thanks, buddy. I can't believe it's hard to find a flight for less than $650 to go to Calgary. That's so expensive and not even summer, I wonder what could be driving NY prices up at this time more than normal. I'm going to wait a while and see what happens to the price, so if you or cmyden see something, please let me know.

There were some flights on KLM for around $900 after taxes, but it was for late October.
May 16-26 looks like the cheapest for the timeframe you're looking at, around $1200 after taxes on KLM.
Or you could do May 15-27 on Air Transat for $800 into London and try to combine it with a cheap EasyJet/RyanAir flight to Rome.

Looks like Apr 1-4 out of Newark is $692 after tax on Continental. Leaves on the 4th at 5:55PM. Coming home after that bumps it up to $733, United, 6:31PM.

I would say it's Easter weekend inflating the price a bit, but the following Thu-Sun isn't much better, $635 on Delta.

50% off Westjet flights until tomorrow (March 3) afternoon. I think it's flights from now till June 30th and few other restrictions.

I ended up booking on Air Canada during the 2 for 1 international flight sale. Worked out to ~ $975 pp including all taxes, we get to fly on the days we want, and they have a free luggage allowance for our baby of a 50lb suitcase, stroller and carseat!

FYI, JFK is resurfacing its main runway over the next couple of months so flights in and out are likely going to be delayed more than usual. Might not be a big deal, but if you're choosing between JFK and one of the other airports it might be wise to go with EWR or LGA.

Yeah, can see the full details here:
https://www.westjet.com/guest/en/tra...tSale_20100102
You can select Calgary from the dropdown menu to show you the prices (pre-tax and one way of course!)
For Canadian destinations travel on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until June 30, 2010.
For U.S. and international destinations travel between May 3 and June 30, 2010.
I don't see anything too out of the ordinary that you can get almost all the time for midweek travel on WestJet.

I'm always on the lookout for anything to Atlanta or Raleigh if that ever pops up.....usually midweek travel too.
Is anyone seeing anything in the $700-800 range over the next month? All I can find is $1500 plus.

How about Mar 23-30, $581 after taxes, US Airways. Has an ok leg on the way down, coming back it's a little long.
$636 for a decent flight both ways. (1 hour layover each way). It's using a mish-mash of airlines though. Air Canada and Delta down, US Airways back.
This is for Atlanta.

Just a FYI - I booked a flight to LA and Montreal today and both were cheaper on Air Canada. They always match Westjet's prices now plus you get your Aeroplan points.

Presenting the YYC Deals Map...
http://www.yycdeals.com/map
What is it?
It's a Google Map showing you the cheapest flight prices from Calgary to hundreds of cities around the world.
For example, if you see a $800 flight to Paris, that's the cheapest flight available for the upcoming year.
It might give you some idea of what a 'good' price is, who flys there for the cheapest price, and perhaps the cheapest time of year to fly there.
What do the green placemarks mean?
These are the particularly good deals. At least, in terms of the distance you're going, for the price.
Things you can do...
- show fares for the upcoming year under a certain price.
- find the best deals in a particular month
- show destinations under a certain cost per mile (most flight for your buck)
Feedback
Let me know what you think, or if you have ideas for improvement, more features, etc.
