figure skating is one of those sports where you cringe when they jump and hope they don't fall and once the jumps are out of the way you have no clue who is doing what better than anyone else.

Amazing skate... I cant imagine how hard it was for her to keep it together during that, especially with the way she broke down in tears after. Just amazing.

I wont say it often, as im not a fan of figure skating by any stretch of the imagination, but wow. What Joannie just did out there is nothing short of remarkable. I can't even imagine how tough that was for her. Bravo.

Good for her. Must have been very tough.

The strength and courage to perform under those circumstances is unbelievable. Can't agree more, a little teary-eyed watching that. Good for her.

Would have figured that Slovenian skiier would have run away with the Terry Fox Award after her performance, but on tonight alone, Rochette deserves serious consideration as well.

Kopri wasn't even the hottest. That one Georgian had huge tits. Winner by far.
Oh yeah... Rochette should carry the flag. Without question.

Don't ever watch figure skating but tuned in to watch Joannie.
What a brave girl to perform under the circumstances. You could tell it was hard for her not to break down before the skate began and once it was over the emotions just overflowed.
Even though it doesn't really matter all things considered wouldn't it be great if she hung on and got the bronze.

She is within striking distance of a medal. It would be awesome if she could win one.

Or, you hope that they fall but don't get hurt. Kind of like NASCAR...

I don't ever watch figure skating but I have goosebumps after watching Joannie skate. What a freaking performance. Moments like that make me proud to be a Canadian. That was the best performance of the night and yes I know that that hockey team played.

Great skate! However, after seeing her breakdown in tears I'm feeling totally down now.

Now, I have no idea, as I don't watch figure skating, but is tonights figure skating event for a medal?
My wife (whose much more into figure skating than myself) seems to think the medals for this event are later this week as they have to perform another skate. Can anyone confirm?

No, they do two skates. Tonight is the short, and the long program is Thursday.

No it is not for a medal. The free skate goes on Thursday at 5 pm PST and they combine the scores.

They still have their free skate, which is another night. I have no idea which night though. They'll tally those 2 scores and determine the winners. So She stands a good chance since she's sitting in 3rd.

Yes this is the shorter program, Thursday is the long free skate. Tonight's marks are about 40% of the total.
